Light yellow with a small white head with decent last leaving decent lace.

Smell is cereals, light and clean.

Taste is generic and bland, but not as sweet as the other DR lagers, which is nice. It’s also very clean, almost into seltzer territory.

Mouthfeel is on the dry, crisp side, light bodied.

Drinkability is pretty good, this is a clean beer, light flavored and generic for sure, but gulpable, not to gassy, and a touch stronger then some of the other locals (although the label clearly states 5% ABV, not the 6% listed at the time of this review, although I've submitted the change).

A- Pours a clear, pale yellow, big fluffy white head manages to maintain itself at around a finger, which is already considerably better than most Latin American beers I've seen.

S- Light grains, lots of corn and husk, little else.

T- More light grain, some leafy hops are detectable, a bit of corn and sweetness in the aftertaste.

M- Light bodied, high carbonation, finishes clean and very dry.

O- A decent, cheap brew, pretty much what I expected.

Never have someone you know buy you a round of beers. Never.

After trying some good beers last night, I get one of these handed to me. I was not impressed.

Poured it out into a glass and looked unremarkable. It smelled like Swiss Cheese and wet cardboard. Is that good?

The taste? Well, lets just say it was a struggle. Had a weird sour aftertaste too.

Overall, the mouthfeel was a bit thicker than I was expecting.

One and done for me! A nice gesture, but like I said, never have a stranger buy you a beer!

Poured the 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass.

A: clear golden body with some slight weight in it. Small bubble rising up to the top where a three finger spongy bright white head rests. Lacing is pronounced on the non-sipping side of the glass.

S: very faint. Some sugar cane and skunk, that's about it. I couldn't get a good reading on this.

T: slight corn taste, hops are present as well.

M: light body, very drinkable with lots of carbonation.

O: this lager is a good cheap option since it's very drinkable and decent.

Consumed straight from the bottle at Villa Pizza in Manhattan, NYC. Paired with some supreme pizza. Basic pilsner taste with kind of a skunk background (not light struck, just Heineken style). I figured a Czech Pilsner would go well with the pizza. The thin and high carbonation washed down the pepperoni and sausage pretty well. Sure, it's not super delicious but it washed my food down nicely.

12oz bottle dumped into pint glass

A clear golden yellow with enough bubbles to sustain a thumbs width of soapy head that hangs around for a few minuets leaving random lace well down the glass

S faint grassy hops and sour lemon, not a whole lot going on

T a little dry cereal on top of what I smell with a little corn and skunk

M light and well carbonated but the aftertaste lingers longer then I'd like

O I finished it without issues but I was thirsty and it never had a chance to warm up

the best and worst beer I've ever had from the Dominican Republic if I'm not mistaken

Cheezy smell, not skunked just poor quality. Pale lager, with big bubbles. Malt story, with a bit of an acidic bite. Vegetable, corn, sugar, watery. Lacey. Aggressive carbonation. Minimalist drinkability.Stephan's bottle from his recent trip. Probably better than tap water there.

12 oz bottle straight from the source poured hard into a pint glass

comes out a weak straw color thats more clear than yellow. big foamy head that sticks well and recedes rescues this a little bit. grain, corn husk, alcohol and a bit of pepper make up an uninviting nose. taste is bread malts corn husk and grain and a very mild hop bite in the end. lots of carbonation to this light bodied brew. so there it is its not much to it.

Moderate dense three finger head of white bubbles, with very clingy broken lace. Color is a 3 on the SRM beer color chart, with lots of micro bubble action. Smell is of wet corn, rice, and a little malt. Taste is light flavors of roasted corn, wheat, rice, and a little grapefruit. Mouthfeel has a good feel from the carbonation, but a little watery overall. Very refreshing finish. Not a beer that I would go out of my way to buy, but not one I would not buy if it was on the shelf in front of me. Refreshing, and good enough flavor.

A - Poors a glassy highly filtered clear brown/yellow. Foamy kitchen sponge density head the color of cumulonimbus clouds. A nice shoreline of fine crystal head along the meniscus .

S - Mostly simple sugars. Hard to tell if it's rice or cane sugar. Either would be geographically appropriate. Hop profile is timid. One could imagine faint echos of curries and other spices, but alas it's probably just imagination. Fortunately no off-flavors or smells.

T - Not unpleasant. Totally fine for a simple lager. Nothing to write home about but if I was at a party or on a boat and the ice chest was full of these I wouldn't instinctively jerk my hand back like I would with a case of "Natty-Ice" or "The Beast".

M - Some fizzyness lingering from the head. Enough maltyness in the middle. Doesn't have that hollow taste that lots of adjuncts do.

D - This beer is above my expectations. I realize that's not the highest praise but this is a good emulation of simple traditional German lagers like some of the smoother Viennas etc. This is widely available in New York supermarkets. And I will have to rate it higher than some of it's Mexican competitors. *cough Corona cough cough*

on-tap at a mexican restuarant in Tallahassee, FL

Ordered this because I had never tried one and like my draft beer, this was the most 'different' draft they had.

A- golden yellow, transparent with a dense head ~1/3'', served in a mug (24oz). head dissipates somewhat but remains all the way through and laces down the mug, something i was not expecting at all with a caribbean "pilsner".

S- faint smell, light hops, malt, grain nothing striking.

T- Crisp and balanced taste, grains and hops slight corny taste. similar to a PBR, which is in the same style.

M- light body lots of carbonation so it stays even while the beer warms, keeps it drinkable.

D- Nothing special for its style but as far as a common american lager/pilsner draft this was solid, not too filling for the alcohol. I would definitely order this again on draft since its more common in south florida.

First had: bottle at some Cuban restaurant in Manhattan

It was the only alternative to Corona, and ended up being a slightly better selection. Slightly.

Poured a clear straw color...uhoh, I see where this is going...carbonation, and a thin fizzy head that fizzled out to nothing. Mostly grains and staleness in the aroma. Weak taste of grains, corn, metallic hops. Bitter and very unflavorful, very light, and not very drinkable at all, unless bland and unimaginative and adjunct is your thing.

What can you say about this one. It was widely available in the caribbean and for the most part cheaper than water, which is the. Flavor I get most from it. Pretty much the BMC of the Caribbean. I wouldn't seek this beer out but it was ok to drink when it was free on a hot boat ride.

This is basically a Budweiser clone. Maybe +5-10% maltier. One of two basic beers from the Dominican Republic that you can readily find at the "Majestic Resorts" in Punta Cana. The other beer, Brahma is brewed in Brazil.

Glad I brought my own beer.

Really pleased I saw this bottle as I searched the shelves in the Ambrosetti beershop in Berlin, looking for something completely different. I've drank this beer on tap and in bottle form in it's homeland well before joining this website, and as I am trying to drink around the world, I leapt at the chance of bringing this home with me to review at leasure.

Green 355ml bottle, best before 17 Sep 2011, poured into two 'veltins Pilsner' glasses on 28 April 2011.

Huge snowy white heads on both beers, the body being a mid-range pilsner gold, bright and clear.

There was a grainy smell, with slight hop undertones.

The beer is dry, refreshing and almost tasteless, a sunny, hot day drink. What a pity it was cold and dark outside when I tasted it for this review!

This isn't a sharp, tangy pilsner, almost mellow in it's mouthfeel. OK, but not a lager/pilsner I'd stock a regular basis.

Huge thanks to steve (akbeerfiend) for schlepping this diamond in the spitoon back from la republica dominicana.

The appearance is ideal for an american adjunct lager. brilliantly clear blonde color with ample carbonation.

Nose smells exactly like it should for the style. Just like a fraternity carpet. ample corn and adjuncts, with little else aside from futuristic super processed yeast strains.

taste....yep. straight up high school hooker lager. corn. rice. tropical STDs. its all there.

mouthfeel is pretty much what the style calls for. A specific gravity of 0.005 with ample carbonation.

overall, its a classic dook lager. Typical drunk ass slammable lager brew. No worse than the american eqiuvalents, but probably significantly cheaper, and produced in better conditions than the third world ghettos of st. louis.

Poured on tap at MIA. Thin white head, some lacing. Color is clear straw-gold. Aroma is sweet and corny flavor is a typical blend of sweet malt, corn adjunct and noble bittering hops. Mouthfeel is light anbd refreshing. Overall a good Caribbean refresher.

drew a draft after i had a luke warm bottle. the draft was much better and that made it to average at best. we were in the hot sun of the dominican so this draft beer served cold hit the spot. another of the many bbq or lawnmowing beers. quenches the thirst on a hot day but not too much to brag about. small head, very little lace, quenching bitter taste but not too strong.

Enjoyed on special at Sergio's in Miami, FL. This beer poured into a chilled mug, which means way too much head was produced and took a while to be able to drink. The beer is a clear pale golden color. The aroma is slightly skunky with some grassy hop notes, but not very strong or well balanced. The taste is crisp and grassy, with a little skunky note as well. the mouthfeel is overcarbonated, but finishes very clean with no lingering harsh flavors. Goes well with a salad, but overall nothing I would ever choose to get again.

Since there was nothing else left to try on the menu I picked up one of these. It's a drinkable lager but it's just nothing special. If you've had one Adjunct Lager then you've probably had this one too. The beer is yellow without much of any head. The smell is bitter and the flavor is grassy and bitter. Not much else to really say about it.

Had on tap in Punta Cana on vaca with the wife:

A: light straw color with small amount of head and minimal lace

S: lightly sweet and crisp

T: crisp and clean with lightly sweet taste and small amount of bitter hop at the end

M: thin with little lasting pop

O: this is a great beer if you are on a resort sitting on the beach with a novel trying to avoid getting too sunburned. Certainly not a beer I would buy in the states given the probable mark up (I've never seen it in the states), but for my money much better than corona, pacifico, etc, then again I don't ever buy those here either. Overall, I say a good beer for the style.

Presidente Cerveza Pilsener beer. Brewed in the Dominican Republic 6% alcohol?+

A- Pours a darker than average American Adjunct Lager yellow hue, that produces a quarter inch of pillowy white head that lingers around for the whole beer.

S- Sweet malted grains and corn come to mind with minimal skunky hops.

T-M- Taste is different than others of its kind in the aspect of the sweet grainy flavors melded into the Mexican type brew i know. Light hop come in barely but has a smooth finish with nothing special in the back end.

D- Very drinkable but a premiem price i'll have to pass.

Lay over...Miami International...might as well try a beer from the Dominican. I will go against the grain and comment that this beer is better than a lot of Mexican/Brazilian/colombian beers that I have tried! Its lawnmower beer for sure, decent. Yellow in color, no smell, white head, some lacing. Could seriously put these down with no problem, which means taste/drinkability/mouthfeel are all solid! C'mon man...try it!
