A - Colour is a reddish copper, next to no head and no lace.

S - Not much smell to it at all. Just a faint aroma of macro beer.

T - Lightly toasted maltiness flavour tainted by a unpleasant metallic aftertaste.

M - Thin and watery but quite high on the carbonation still.

O - Or yeer, guv thus wun uh muss ay bru.

330ml bottle served on Sewart's Island (NZ).
Deep amber with excellent clarity; has a fine, durable bone-colored head. Lots of visible carbonation bubbles.

Smells like a malty lager with light, spicy hops. The taste too is initially more similar to a lager than it should be but there's a lightly hoppy finish and aftertaste.

Feel: crisp and dry; Light body made pleasing by good smoothness and high carbonation.

O: Decent but uninspired and withlow hoppiness.

Speights Gold Medal Ale is a very smooth easy drinking beer that is full of flavor. Its appearance is a rich copper look. Smells and has a taste of malt which I love. Again its mouth-feel is smooth, crisp and very refreshing beer that easy to drink. This is a top beer for those who like a more rich malt flavor.

Pours a bright and clear amber color with a small thin white head.

Aromas are of brewed tea, light grains, and not much else.  Not good, but not bad either.

Taste is simple and straightforward.  Light tea, simple grainy malts, slightly sweet, with some adjunct like flavors.  Finish is crisp, but not much else.

Mouthfeel is smooth, full, and nicely carbonated. Probably this beers strongest suit.

Overall, a boring but drinkable mass produced ale, I guess you could do worse though.

Speight's Gold Medal Ale, bottle claims 3.9% ABV

Pours a light copper/amber,soapy head and some lace stickage. Toffee, caramel little hop presence. Tastes like a simple ale, muted fruit and malt sweetness, some of the toffee character comes through and small buttery diacetyl. High level of carbonation, smooth, finishes not so clean. Overall, this is a nice beer for the warm weather, and cheap for $11.00/12pack on the island.

Bottle into An Brainblasta goblet in low altitude Galway, Ireland. Bottle obtained in McCambridge's, Galway, on Shop Street.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of fair thickness and little cream. Clear copper colour.

Sm: Amber malt. A very light aroma.

T: Amber malt body with lingering hops-inclinated finish. Simple and decently built. Awkwardly balanced: overextending its limited flavour.

Mf: Too smooth, too wet.

Dr: Far too expensive for a poorly made beer.

This is my first review while actually drinking a beer, most of my reviews are from notes.

A-Poured into a Shaker Pint from an 11.15 fl oz. bottle. No freshness date found. Pours a rich copper color, with an off white head that stays around longer than anticipated, and contains very large bubbles. A nice amount of lacing

S-A bit of a toasted sweet malt, with a touch of raisin. Some hoppiness does emerge as the ale warms, but what does is very minimal.

T-Malt is detected right away. Not getting any sort of bitterness whatsoever. Almost a nutty characteristic. The sweet slightly toffee, and caramel toasted malt flavors stay around to the end.

M-Smooth, watery, and very light.

D-The Speights seems to go down very easy, an extremely sessionable EPA. Although not as malty, or heavy as some English styles, this would be a nice Ale for taking in an afternoon All Blacks game. I would really need some more bitterness and a little heavier mouthfeel to grade this ale higher.

Appearance-Quite fizzy, quickly dissipating two finger head.

Smell-Some fruity malt, nothing much.

Taste-Easy to drink ,some malt and a bit thin and short.

Mouthfeel-A bit watery.

Drinkability-A decent Session brew at 4% i usually drink this out of the bottle without pouring it into a glass, drinking it from a glass mug poured from a can isn't as nice.

A: a clear redish brown with one inch white head

S: smell is very subdued raw grain sweetness

T: Taste is malt sweetness and crackers but not much in the way of off-flavors which is surprising.

M: Light to medium body with crisp carbonation and a dry finish.

D: Very drinkable and quite a nice mass produced beer. much preferable to bud or miller or many of the macro options in the state.s

A- A medium dark amber with dissipating carbonation and vanishing head.

S- Malt, Hops Oil, Little Fruity Sweetness

TM- Similar to the smell, there was more light roasted malt then hops. There wasn't any real surprises with a clean finish.

Nice gold/copper colour with decent fluffy head and light carbonation. Clean fresh, rich malts on the nose. Nice clean mouthfeel, again getting a nice sweetish (almost maerzen like) malt presence without being heavy. Very soft bitterness, little hop flavour but detecting something along the lines of pride of ringwood. Balancing dryness on the finish.

Very pleasant beer, very good for a macro. Almost defines sessionability at 4% ABV

33cl bottle poured into a Kolsch stange.

A- 3 finger rocky head that disappates quickly but leaves good lacing. Honey, amber copper colouring.

S- Faint malt sweetness, not much else to mention really, disappointing.

T- Once again, a light malt sweetness but no real hop profile of a pale ale at all. Very light in the flavour dept, a bit watery in the finish.

M- Lager like moderate carbonation, medium to watery body.

D- Looks great, tastes boring! Very drinkable though, smooth mouthfeel with a nice toasted malt flavour but this gets boring easily!

Appearance - 4.0
Poured a finger and a half of frothy white head, which gradually disappeared in patches. Lots of large bubbles clinging to the glass. Colour is a coppery, deep amber. Looks very appealing.

Smell - 2.5
My god, what a massive disappointment. This delicious looking pale ale has very little in the way of smell, and what there is smells like a macro lager! Some detectable hops and a whisper of malt sweetness.

Taste - 3.0
Wow, it tastes like a lager too! In all honesty, this isn't too bad, but I can't help but feel disappointed, considering how tasty a lot of the English pale ales out there are. Taste is slightly metallic, with a little grain, and moderately bitter and quite dry in the finish. A bit of toffee in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - 3.0
Moderately carbonated with an average weight in the mouth. Gets a bit watery after a while.

Drinkability - 4.0
This actually goes down quite easily, and the low ABV is definitely a plus. Nothing nasty to put you off, but not tasty enough to be gagging for more.

OVERALL - 3.2
This is a highly drinkable beer with nothing nasty, but as an example of one of my favourite styles, I was disappointed. The price was decent, so I'd say this is not a bad session beer choice, as it is much better than most macro lagers
