honstly a pretty good lager. drank a fair few of these in my travels there, but this is my first in the usa. i remember how refreshing this thing was after a half marathon, but i find it a little less appealing in an american craft beer context now. its a basic blonde lager, no additives or preservatives or anything, pretty darn refreshing really, but nothing out of the ordinary. very well carbonated, fresh pilsener type grains, cerealy, with a classic lager yeast. the finish is super clean and quick, light lager all the way. a tiny bit skunky in this green bottle, but not enough to turn me off. watery body, super thin and light. i can see the appeal in hot weather, and i would take it over a bud or a coors or something, but its well below the craft lager standard we have set here in the states. compared to its peers though, its one of the better options.

330ml green bottle purchased in Dunedin NZ and consumed the followig day.
Light in color and very light in body, this has excellent clarity but only a small fizzy head that soon disappears.
Aroma: light sweet malts and white bread. Very mild but pleasing.
Flavor: more hoppy than suggested by the aroma, but still sweet up front and only mildly bitter in the finish and aftertaste.

O: much better than the bottles I've had in the USA. Still, this is the Rolling Rock of NZ and not impressive

Appearance: Brilliant clarity. Pale gold in color. Head is white and medium-sized. A bit airy and foamy. Right for style.

Smell: Faint pale malt and peaches. Crisp and clean.

Taste: About as smooth and clean as it gets, if your green bottle has survived the trip fr New Zealand. Pale malt and very slight bitterness are all that's present. No weird aftertaste is a big plus for a larger label lager!

Mouthfeel: Medium body and high carbonation with just a bit of a bite. Just right for a lager--neither full, nor watery.

Overall: Hardly exciting, but not at all distasteful. This is the beer we should have been drinking in college. Doesn't require a lot of thought, goes Dow fast and easy, but doesn't require a chaser.

Appearance: extremely clear pale yellow. big bubbly head that only lasted a few moments but clued to its carbonation.
Smell: smells of fresh cut grass and lemon. Light malt with subtle hop presence. Quite pleasant.
Taste: crisp malt through the mid palate. light fruit and hops.
Mouthfeel: medium carbonation cleanses the palate
Overall: one I will come back to. Not bad from my first one from New Zealand.

Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, grass, and skunky aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet grain and grassy flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is easy to drink but nothing all that special.
