It's more expensive than Harris Teeter or Trader Joe's. But...

The beer and wine selection is unbeatable. You will NOT find a selection like this anywhere else in Northern Virginia. And the food...package German foods are amazing, and so awesome to find. I felt like I was back in Germany. The meat counter was not quite as well stocked as the metzgerei on the corner when I lived in Germany, but you won't find this kind of authentic German meat selection anywhere else in the area. The candy selection is amazing- Ritter Sport Schokoladen and Kindereier abound. Oh, and a huge selection of German home decorations and kitsch too.

Bottom line: if you love all things German, this is a nice way to satisfy your longing for good food and drink from the Vaterland.

This is an outstanding little German speciality store, with a butcher shop and bakery, that features some fantastic German foods. All sorts of German candies, toys, novelities, you name it. Small, but very good selection of German beers to go with the great German food. Weihenstephan, Erdinger, Tucher and the like can be found here but they do offer more of the beers from the popular German breweries. I like getting some fresh German bratwurst, and some fantastic spatzen and sauerkraut here, and of course get some good German beers to have with it. Nice place for one shop shopping for any thing and every thing German if you happen to be in the area.

A nice little german market in Falls Church, VA. Beer selection is primarily German, but is quite limited and ordinary. They had Schneider, Julius Echter, Spaten etc, but no real hard to find stuff. Nice selection of glassware though. Great looking german meats, wurst, etc. Lots of german candies and groceries. Nice selection of chocolates. Good service, though I didn't ask about beers. German wines are available as well. Somewhat high prices though. I wouldn't go out of your way to get here unless you want some food too.

First off, this is not primarily a beer or liquor store, but is a store that specializes in German foodstuffs and delicacies. Subsequently, they have an impressive selection of German beers from all the big hitters: Weihenstephan, Hofbrau, Echter, Hacker-Pschor, and Paulaner. They do carry some non-German beers like Stella Artois, Pilsener Urquell, and for some strange reason the Delirium Tremens line.. but that doesn't bother me. I was overjoyed to see the Aecht Schenferla Marzen there.. it's now a short walk away!! Probably the best selection of Germanic beers I've seen in this area. Judging by the beers I have picked up there in the past, they know how to handle their beers so that they don't spoil. The service is friendly and with a German accent. I can't say I grilled them on beer knowledge, but I don't normally do that anyways.

They also have glassware ranging from decorative steins to logoed glassware. Want a Berlinder Kindl Weisse glass? They got it. How about a ceramic horn? Check.

The selection of candy was mind boggling, but of greater interest to me was the meat locker containing fine sausages, cured hams, and other delicacies that will probably mess up my cholesterol levels. I feverishly await true grilling season so that I can get my bratwurst and rauchbier on.

The only downfall is that the prices are just a wee bit above the average. But I suppose for the sheer selection, I do save some $$$ on gas money.
