From their website:
"Our lower calorie, lower carbohydrate beer, named after the original Hops, is a remarkably clear and light beer that will appeal to the American beer drinkers who enjoy a clean, light beer."
The above is just a fancy way of saying that they've brewed a watery-thin, no-flavor, over-carbonated, macro-light wannabe that so many of the masses think is so great.
Appearance: Clear light, light yellow with a very fizzy head that only lasts for seconds. No lacing of the glass.
Smell: Very, very faint aroma of a toasted grain. But it's really impolite to stick your whole face into the glass trying to detect an aroma.
Taste: Ugh. The description says it all. This beer is clearly meant to appeal to the masses. Perhaps a creative marketing attempt to get maro-drinkers to try something new? ("Waiter...do you have anything on-tap that tastes like _____ Light?"..."Certainly! We have Clearwater Light!"....patron tries the beer..."Man! These fancy-smancy micro-brews taste just like _____ Light! What's all the hype?"). Sigh.
Mouthfeel: Imagine carbonated water with just a hint of alcohol. Over-carbonated and very thin.
Drinkability: Only on a hot and humid Virginia summer day after cutting my grass.

not a bad beer for a light. not an intense taste, but not quite non existant. surely this is not a beer deserving awards, but it isnt that bad. it has a light taste yes, but it isnt a bad light taste. way better than bud or corona light.to sum it up, not horrable, not great, just an average beer.

Almost like it's not even there...
One of the thinnest beers in memory, lacking in both hops and malt. I assume they're aiming for something of a "generic light beer," and if by that they mean to construct something with almost no distinctive feature whatsoever, they've managed.
What it DOES have going for it is that since it's brewed on site at the restaurant, it's pretty much always fresh. It's rather incredible how much more drinkable a light beer can be when it hasn't been locked in a bottle for months.

A dull silver in color, almost crystal clear, could be mistaken for ginger ale, skunky and musky on the nose. Up front, rather metallic, oily, slight hops can be barely be detected. Watery body, still metallic and oily, finishes paper thin. No character, no body, little taste, one must ask Why?

Named after the original Hops location in Clearwater, FL. This is super lightweight ah, well beer I guess. Crystal clear pale yellow with more bubbles than a real head. Overly carbonated concoction. Virtual no smell of anything. Mostly tasted bubbly water. Very faint, and I mean faint hint of a beerlike malt taste just as you finish a drink. More bubbly water than beer. It's meant to be thirst quencher in the hot Florida summers, but this is ridiculous. It's barely, just barely a beer. It makes Coors Original look like a Stout.

Had at the Newington, CT Location.
L: Pours a clear straw yellow with a medium sized and light bodied white colored head that laces the glass a bit on the way down.
S: Smells of light malt and light hops.
T: Tastes of light malt and light hops, really just a very watery beer which reminds me of a macro - which is exactly what they were going for.
M: Very light, crisp, perfect amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable as there is not much to it.

On tap at the Alexandria location.
Pours a very clear super-light yellow color with some carbonation bubbles. Initial half-finger head falls very quickly and doesn't leave anything behind. As soon as I bring it within a few feet of my nose the trouble sets in. This is a diacetyl bomb to the max. Wow. Nothing much else there. The taste is all sorts of butter plus a bit of grain husks. Light and creamy. Nothing good I can really say about this.

I will review this style as I should, vs. the style. This beer is a very good for a light. Clear light gold color, with a small white head. There is a hint of hops finish, even if the body is a little thin. Much better than Miller Lite or Bud Light. This is still Hop's worst offering overall.

Not bad looking - clear light gold with a thin white head and decent lacing. My sense of both smell and taste was of a malt brew with virtually no hopping and no real character. I was thrown off by the initial taste because the mouthfeel is a bit creamy and gives a bit of a full body sense. This quickly left however and I was drinking flavored sugar water with a watery, weak taste. I wouldn't say I had to choke it down, but I'd rather drink macro lite than this offering.

The beer is the palest straw color. A very low yet persistent head. It has no real aroma. The flavor is crisp with slight maltiness, but basically very dry. It also had a DMS flavor and a dry finish. The body is watery light and makes you wonder if water is indeed added afterwards.
(Sampled at the Charleston location)
