A 330ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2014. Acquired as part of a 4-pack from a B&M store.

Poured into a stemmed pilsner glass. A clear golden colour with light carbonation. Forms a decent head of white foam that lasts for a minute or two before dissipating. Some lacing. Aroma of light malt with hints of stewed leaves and a touch of cardboard. Faintly harsh.

Tastes of weak malt with a dry finish. Notes of ultra-light malt, stewed leaves, harsh cardboard and a twinge of solvent. Unpleasant background flavour. Well-attenuated, followed by a crisp bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with decent carbonation and a thin, watery body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of acrid stewed leaves and woodchips.

Meh - another subpar macrolager. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are dull and plagued by subtle off-notes that linger on the palate. Watery body. There's hardly anything to it; faint stewed leaves but that's it. Might be refreshing on a very hot day, though even then I would suspect that you could find something better. Give it a miss.

I ordered cerveza for one euro with my room service in madrid and this is what came. Poured slightly cold from a can into a 4oz glass.

Overall impression is that it was not terrible but it was pretty forgettable. More hop bitterness than most beers i've had in this style but no hop aroma or flavor to speak of. Slightly skunky flavor, slightly above average body and below average drinkability. I'll probably have wine instead if given the option.

Mahou pours a clear, deep golden body beneath an average-sized head of creamy white. The head retention is good, and it leaves rings and patches of tiny spotted lace at the outset of the glass. Streams of tiny bubbles can be seen rising steadily. The nose combines grassy hops, gently sweet and grainy malts, a bit of corn, and yeasty fruitiness; and is simply an extension of the flavor held within. It's very lightly bitter, and leans towards maltiness with a cereal-like character to it. The grassy and subtly spicy hops help to balance it, but it still finishes a touch sweet. The malt lingers, but eventually gives way to some spicy hops as it fades. It's more interesting and satisfying than a standard American macro or Euro lager, but it's not particularly well done.

11.2 oz bottle poured into an icy mug at a small "Mexican-Spanish" restaurant in Bayside, NY.

Pale golden witha creamy white head, actually leaves a fair amount of lace on the glass. The aroma is nothing special, dry malt, no skunk which is a plus.

Taste is fairly clean and crisp, nothing much to distinguish this macrolager from many others, but it doesn't suck. Drinkable, refreshing.

During around a week in Madrid, this was probably the best beer I discovered. I am not really a fan of lager in general, though this has a unique taste that really complements Madrid. It is quite bitter and hoppy, with covert lemon and floral undertones, and all of its elements combine to form an overall flavour that is really different to the lagers of Holland, Germany, Czech and England.

The colour has a depth to it that is inviting in the glass. In the mouth, it's froth really gives you an experience. And the smell is as good as any lager I have had.

Beers always taste better when they are brewed locally, though I also had a Mahou in England, and the flavour was still there.

A: Poured a extremely clear, sunset orange with a flat, fizzy, off white head that was filled with macro-bubbles. Visible carbonation was light.

S: very light in strength with a light showing of fresh grains and a touch of dried honey toast.

T: light honey-oranges with a light flowery hopping. There was a light acidic nature to the drink with oranges and sour caramel malting that was found on the finish along with some dried lemon peels.

M: fizzy despite its calm visibility, slick, with a light sour finish off the tongue.

D: Drinkability was slightly less then average, a tad boring and would be hard pressed to drink more then 2 of these at any given time.

Pours amber with a small, white, fading head and lacing.
Nose shows hay, faint, plain cereal malt and very soft, spicy hops.
Similar flavours; hay and light sweet vegetal notes. Very little else.
Carbonation is much too high, body is very watery..

Appearance: Full yellow color. Poured with about one finger of slightly soapy-looking foam which had decent retention. Left just a little lacing.

Smell: First whiff from just-opened can was slightly sweet, but couldn't characterize it any more than that. In the glass, slight metallic odor.

Taste: A light hoppy bitterness. Very little sweetness. Not much other hops flavors either.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Good level of carbonation. Metallic and hops bitter tastes in the aftertaste. Dry finish.

Overall: Not hideous, but not noteworthy. A fairly typical mass market adjuct lager. The soapiness of the foam after pouring looks strange, but the smell and taste are just unremarkable. On the other hand, quite drinkable. This would be refreshing on a hot day.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin bright white head that never completely faded away.
S: There are moderate aromas of adjunct malts in the nose along with notes of grassy hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has some hints of grainy malts. A light amount of bitterness is present and this lingers through the finish, helping to make the taste less offensive. Flavors of cooked corn seem to stand out among the adjuncts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It neither feels thin nor watery.
O: This beer goes down easily but isn't very impressive in the smell or taste categories.
