Poured into a Chimay chalice, rich yellow-red color. Enticing aroma, a blend of citrus and damp earth, almost grassy.
Tastes of straw and wheat. Quick tease of grass on the tip of the straw which turns to a blanket of flavor as it finishes thru the rest of the tongue. Slight bitterness after the swallow
Just what I was expecting from this style.

Got this bottle at the abbey.
The beer appears with a dark golden color and a small but steady layer of foam.
It smells malty, cookydough and fruity, very well balanced.
Taste follows the smell, with a little bit of alcohol. It is sweet but certainly not to sweet and has a verry nice bitter aftertaste.
It has a full mouthfeel.
It is my favorit beer from Achel, overall a very well balanced beer.

I gotta give this beer some good marks. If you had some Achel before, the regular 330ml bottles are 8% ABV, but the Extra bottles (all in the 750ml format) are 9.5% ABV and they are noticable and tastily better!
A: Awesome yellow deep golden hues with a mountainous foamy white head
S/T: Smell is fresh and clean. Nice yeast taste with a pleasant bitterness.
M: Very bubbly and carbonated, but smooths out with a nice finish, esp for a 9.5% beer
O: Really nice...kinda tough to get as I don't think the extra are exported out of Begium. Some may be, but in very small quantities. The 750s are made in small batches and bottled right there at the monastary. I've visited Achel several times and purchased quite a few of the bottles there. If you come across these, definitely try one...

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike!
The beer is hazy and yellow, with a finger of white head that leaves some good lacing behind. The aroma brings some yeast, citrus, spice, malt, and subtle alcohol. Nice flavor, well balanced. Lots of citrus, slightly sweet. Yeast and spices add depth and complexity. A delicious beer. So glad to try this rare Trappist ale. Recommended.

Purchased while in Belgium.
.33L Bottle served in Chimay Chalice
A- Cloudy Deep Gold; Thin pillowy head; Retained throught the duration of the galss; Thick lacing.
S- Sweet earthy fruits, yeast and dried grass.
T- Sour citrus and yeast; mild notes of sweet figs and caramelized malts. Mildly bitter.
M- Full bodied; medium carbonation.
D- At 8% ABV, the alcohol is barely noticable, but would catch up with you in a hurry. The flavors of this beer match perfectly with hearty meals and can stand up to lots of flavors.

Shared by Thorpe, one of his Belgium conquests. Beer is yellow, darker, mildly hazy, thin head, nice retention, some lacing, moderate carbonation.
Aroma is sweet, alcohol, lots of yeast, mild clove, some banana and esters.
Beer is light in body and sweet with the yeast winning all arguments and opening to a nice not too dry sort of dry finish. I enjoyed this beer a lot and appreciate the chance to try it. I wish I could get more, maybe someday.

This beer is specially brewed to honor the 75th birthday of Abt Marc Gallant. It's a topfermented blond ale, bottle conditioned.
RLB only brought 1 bottle to the Tripel Fest at egajdzis place, but being this one made up for quantity - thanks RLB!
Poured a cloudy golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas and tastes of citrus, fruity, and light yeast. Hops come through in the tastes as well with some caramel. Lightly sweet. Some alcohol comes through in the aroma but is well hidden in the taste. I really enjoy Achel's beers and this one was not a let down.

I settled into a bar seat at Café De Knijnspiep after some shopping for some serious drinking. Started with three bottles of this nice Tripel, 0.33l at €3.75 per...
My small chalice was filled with a medium golden, slightly flat bier. It was still a vibrant hue, with a creamy white head. Topping was fluffy and lasted well, with decent lacing. Nose is nice and fruity, with super tropical fruit present. Body was medium, and the feel was light and airy on the tongue.
Had a nice crackery, doughy sweetness, and was dry and crisp through and through. Had lots of tropical fruit, with white grape skin, apple, pear and some peppery spice. At the finish there was a healthy amount of spicy, yeasty notes. Really nice, yes indeed! Zum Wohl!!

Bottle from the abbey during our recent trip to Belgium. Served in a Trappist Achel glass.
ours a clear golden-yellow with a nice white head. Light lacing and a thin collar throughout. The nose brings some clove and fairly-strong alcohol. Surprisingly (and happily) the flavor doesn't have any alcohol at all. Good clove character and light bubblegum. A bit of sweetness and mild fruit. Body is medium with good carbonation and a strong yeast presence. Good clove and spice. Overall, quite tasty and a very nice tripel.
