Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. No freshness date, cool label though.

Appearance: Pours a deep brown/near black beer with ruby edges. Head is pretty decent to start, then settles to a tan cream lace -- retains the lace for its lifetime.

Smell: Luscious malty aroma of caramel, light fruit, touch of molasses and freshly milled grains. I have to mention that the aroma is really fresh, like one of the best to have sneaked up my nostrils in a long time -- or maybe it's the homebrewer in me who likes the aroma of milled malt?

Taste: Loads of malt goodness in this beer! Nice rich, robust body and character. Mouthfeel is very smooth, silky smooth and even. Caramel, fruity, woody/earthy notes, roasted bite, chocolate and grain flavours meld nicely with a extremely balanced hop bitterness and faint herbal background. Finish is a bit burnt, with notes of grain and a dryness on the palate.

Notes: Ga damn! This is one helluva porter! Robust, flavourful, highly drinkable and the brewers are into Ska to boot. I'll have another please ...

Thanks to Arctic Liquors for the sample.

Appetizer: almost no carbonation with a black-red brown appearance; mildly sweet aroma

Entree: smooth initial taste (similar to Founder's Porter I sampled just prior so maybe biased), with less mildly harsh aftertaste, which dissipates nicely / better as compared

Dessert: better than Founder's, still behind Deschutes, and comparable (albeit differing since vanilla) to Linenkugel's Snowdrift.

Each his/her own, so your call.

Dark brown, semi-opaque. Absolutely zero head after an aggressive pour.

Mild aroma of espresso and tobacco. Roasted nuts. Lactose tartness.

Roasted almonds, toast and coffee bitterness. Hint of molasses. Piney, earthy hop. Descent balance. Sour aftertaste.

Medium bodied; rough, grainy texture. Harsh carbonation.

This beer is just not that good.

Sampled a 12 ounce bottle on 11/25/13. Chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a brandy snifter.

Pours almost a full black with some orange hues. A very tiny tan head was seen and left some spotty lacing when sipped. The aroma is of roasted malt and coffee. Taste was that with some bitter chocolate as a finish BUT actually pretty easy to drink. Lots of coffee flavor actually with perfect carbonation. Over all pretty decent porter and good for the colder months.

Learned this brew was being discontinued and had to pick up a few 6-packs as it was one of the first craft brews I ever liked.

Slow rising and fast falling loose tan foamy head. Leaves very mild lacing... Thin, black brew.

Highly roasty, lots of caramel malt, coffee.

Nicely thin, chalky, robust and drinkable. This is definitely an easy drinker. Lots of airy roasted, chocolate, nothing over done. Zero bitter bite and is delightfully smooth with well placed sweetness. Very quaffable.

RIP Ten Pin, it's been nice knowing you. I hope you make a reappearance as a modified recipe even better!!! Nice job with Ten Pin SKA, cannot wait to see what you have coming to replace...

Poured into a chilled pint glass from a 12 oz bottle.

A: Pours almost black but with a slight orange tiny. Almost no head and with little lacing.

S: Scent of dark-roasted coffee initially but slightly more bitter. Overall pleasant smell but slightly more bitter than I anticipated.

T: Coffee is foremost on the tongue with chocolate following with a somewhat bitter finish. Espresso lingers long after finish.

M: Moderatly dense from the initial sip, but sits creamy and slightly denser after. Swallowing feels as if I were sipping a creamy, chilled espresso.

O: Very enjoyable. I personally prefer slightly less bitter porters, but this one is delicious. I don't know that I could drink more than one or two in a sitting, but it's very smooth and enjoyable.
