I honestly read some reviews before trying this beer, just out of curiosity. I didn't think it was as bad as the reviews generally painted this beer out to be.

A - Pours straight golden with a white, frothy head. Little carbonation in the can, but the foam blooms when you pour. Retains decent lacing, if that's any indication of a good beer.

S - Scents of hops, fresh milk, a sort of cleaning product scent but in a pleasant way. Decent.

T - Bright, citrusy, like lemons, followed by resolution of malts on the back side of the flavor. A bit salty, but not bad. Nothing about this flavor screams "craft" or "unique", but who cares, it still tastes good. Hops don't overwhelm, although they're present throughout. Strikes me more like a lager rather than an ale.

M - Good, clean and refreshing; maybe it's the can.

D - Good for sessions, or multiples. Goes down easy, nothing to complain about.

12oz can.
A) Pours withe a finger thick head and settles quickly to big bubble lacing at the edge of the glass. Slightly hazy to the golden body. Thin, sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Some wheat notes with subtle hints of citrus. Some pungent earthy aromas work their way out on the tip up.
T) Very mellow malty flavors at first then moves to a light citrus sweetness - orange with some lemon. Astringent in the finish.
M) Crisp. Light bodied. Quite dry in the finish leaving a heavy tannin feel on the tongue.
D) One is enough for me. Maybe in a pinch I'd drink another one.

Appearance - Very little, white head. Doesn't last at all. Yellow slightly foggy body.

Smell - Grass clippings, pinecones, a hint of grapefruit. Almost like potpourri. Slightly offensive, but definitely interesting.

Taste - Slightly bitter, with a pointed finish. Reminds me of wheat, golden sunrays, and Spring allergies.

Mouthfeel - Just the right amount of carbonation.

Drinkability - Different enough to keep me interested, but not too weird where it's more like a one-time experiment. I'd have a couple of these in a night and might pick up another one. But I am not infatuated.

A - Pours a clear golden yellow with 2 inches of white foam that quickly faded leaving some lacing
4
S - some floral and citrus hops with a grainy base. It just smells very clean and crisp
3.5
T - The grain flavor is mostly prominent, there are hints of lemon, floral and citrus hops are present, but everything is overshadowed by the grain.
3
M/D - It almost has a grainy mouthfeel as well, slightly bitter, light bodied, its an ok beer to drink but I doubt I would go for another one.

Poured from a 12oz can into a SA perfect pint.

Pours a slightly hazy straw color with a white head. Head is foamy and hangs around for a while eventually leaving some thick lacing. Not much going on in the nose, mostly grains and a hint of citrus. Taste is again very grainy but with more lemon than was present in the nose, not much else going on. Lighter bodied with a crisp finish. Not the best beer I've ever had but I do have to say I could easily throw a few of these back. To summarize: a decent beer but nothing to really write home about.

A - Slightly hazy yellow with a quickly vanishing white head, which manages to cling to the glass a bit on the way down. Pretty much what a blonde should be.

S - A nice blend of floral and citrus that masks the grainy bombardment to come.

T - Not robust or strong in any way upfront. Most of the flavor is derived from the aftertaste, which is a bit malty with some citrusy notes (lemon), but is mostly grain. It seems the more you drink this beer and as it warms up the grain becomes more dominating. It almost reminds me of malt liquor after a while.

M - I really like the mouthfeel of this beer. It is perfectly carbonated and that takes over when it first hits the tongue. It isn't watery or sludgy. It is a really well put together beer in this sense.

D - If only they could tone down the grain in the taste a bit, I would really like this beer. I really don't know if I would enjoy a 6 pack of this in a sitting. It's a shame because it is otherwise a nice brew.

I guess if you like grainy brews this one is for you. Also, nice art on the can, very cool.

A: Crystal clear straw color with a fingers width white head. No real noticable carbonation in the beer.

S: Honey, malt and some peach-like fruity hop aromas. Smells pretty good.

T: Sweet malts and honey dominate the flavor and there is a nice peach and citrus fruit flavor to the beer. The finish is a little bit bitter and sweet.

M: The beer leaves the mouth a little dry and sticky. The body is light.

D: A nice beer. Not overly sweet like some beers brewed with honey flavors. But it is still on the sweet side, so not too sessionable.

A - Light golden in color with little head and no lacing. typical for a blonde ale.

S - little smell, more of a hoppy smell with citrus undertones. Not impressed.

T - decent hoppness with a lemony taste. .

M - Creamy, easily the best part of this beer.

D - Nice beer to sit down and drink. The mouthfeel really makes the beer one that i would drinkt more than one of.

Received in trade form depechemode1983, thanks for the opportunity!
Pours a golden blond color with a small fluffy white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of grains bread honey and grass with a hint of herbal hops. Smells sweet and grainy for the most part. Taste is sweet with lots of honey in the taste mixed with a bit of grainy malt and almost enough hops to keep this from being a bit sweet. Medium body, crisp carbonation, sweet sticky mouthfeel. Not a bad little drinker. Smooth sweet and tasty. Its a decent brew, nothing really wrong with it, but nothing exceptional either.

"Blonde" and slightly cloudy with a decent head and ample lacing.

Sweet lemony honey malts dominate the nose. Slightly malty with some wheat as well.

Tastes of honey-wheat with lemon-lime overtures. Not as malty on the tongue as in the nose. Just a touch of hops on the finish.

Leaves a slightly slick, sweet aftertaste. Thin to medium in body with medium carbonation.

Average in drink. Not much about it makes me want to go rushing out for a sixer. It's ok tho.

Ok, beer best before 2/13/2011 on the bottom of the can. Pours out a bright golden color with a frothy head, wonder if there are some wheat malts in there. Nice frothiness and lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell is very clean, more like a lager than an ale. The taste is quite crisp, dry and bitter, with a clean herbal bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Another good beer from Ska, last I had was their winter Euphoria, this I guess is their summer style beer, for all year round it appears. I actually really like the can format, it goes into a glass anyway and it takes up less space in the trashcan. Anyway, I found this to be a tasty, highly drinkable ale with a nice clean aftertaste almost like a lager. Would pair well with a lot of great summer food on a hot day.

Served in a Duvel tulip glass.

Goddamn dye-jobs... Huh, wha? Oh, yeah, the review. Ahem. This chick pours a clear sorta-pale golden straw topped by about a finger or so of white foam. The nose comprises wheat, flowers, orange rind, and light honey. The taste is nearly identical, though the orange rind and flowers dominate the proceedings, all filibustery and whatnot (wouldn't that have been a better political-charged thriller? Winnie the Pooh and the Filibustery Day? Yeah, I went there...). The one-sidedness really hurts things. The body is a heavy-feeling light, with a moderate carbonation and a kinda dry finish. Overall, a decent brew, nothing worth raving or ranting about. I'm not sure I'd aim for another one any time soon.

A - pours a clear light golden yellow with a decent head

S - faint nose - I got some grass and lemon with some spices

T - nice lemony crispness that is balanced by some light, grassy hops. Pretty delicate taste with not a ton going on, but it is good.

M - creamy and full - the best attribute of this beer

D - decent beer...nothing flashy or bold, but it got the job done of providing something to wash my dinner down with. Not bad, but there is a reason this sat in my fridge for a while. I've had better American blonde ales for sure. Worth a shot and would be a good choice while consuming lots of beer.

12oz can, leftover from a mixer 12pack. the blonde ales are always the leftovers

appearance: bright yellow can - poured into a tyranena pint, dull yellow body but a nice thick white foam head

smell: light and clean, grassy hops, toasted grain, lemon peel

taste: not much going on her - no standout flavors...old lemon, a touch of sweetness from the hops, grain.

mouthfeel: light bodied

drinkability: good - tailgate/lawnmower beer

Could've swore I reviewed this in the bottle, oh well..

Pours an effervescent gold with 3 fingers of fluffy pearl white head. Above average head retention

S: Grassyness, yeasty notes along with grainyness & lemons

T: Follows the nose, light crackery & bready notes, along with grassy hops up front. Grassyness & slight grainyness dominates as this warms, along with a slight herbal hoppyness, yeastyness peters out. Finishes dry, grassy & with hint of herbal hops, honey & crackery notes

MF: Light/medium bodied, fairly sparkling carbonation, fair balance

Drinks easy, but not interesting enough for me to want to session on...

Poured a clear pale yellow with a inch and a half white head with minimal lacing. Aromas of biscuits and barley malts, much reminisant of a Budweiser. Thou lighter in carbonation than the fore mentioned it had more of a lager taste and pretty much the same disappointment. Save your money and have a bud.

This is a style I often overlook (it's usually just a bad pils with an ale yeast) but tend to trust Ska. I've had this on tap before some time ago, but this is the first I've had in quite some time.
Pours a lemon-y yellow color that's crystal clear with a lot of carbonation and a decent sized head.
Those nose is sweet with hints of fruit that reveal it as an ale. Hops are there, but non-distinct.
The flavor profile actually has more hops and malt than I expected. Sweet bready malts up front, hops in the middle, and while the honey doesn't specifically come up in the flavor - it adds a sweet and sour finish that blends well with the light bitterness in the hops.
Easy drinking and fairly light - this would make an excellent tailgating or camping brew.
This isn't going to blow anyone away, but it's probably the best example of a non-boring American blonde I can think of. Definitely on par with the examples from Brick and Montgomery in the deep south.

Poured into Unibroue chalice.

Pours 1 finger of khaki head. Color is a clear pale yellow.

Aroma: Grassy hops with pale, biscuity malts. Smells a bit like an american lager. Very basic.

Taste: Even more like a lager here than in the nose. It has a very faint hop profile with some bready/pale malt flavors. Maybe notes of grain. Not a lot here.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, smooth, very slight hint of bitterness. Lighter bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Ends dry and bland.

Overall, this one just reminded me too much of an adjunct lager. There really wasn't a lot of flavor. Should one expect a lot of flavor? No, but some would be nice.

This beer looks so much like a beer. I drank this in a wine glass, and holding it up and looking into it while listening to flamenco was cool.

I'd never heard of this brewery before, and they had an interesting name, and the packaging on this beer was cool, so I got it.

It's good.

Thanks to woodychandler for the trade. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mainly of hops. Taste is of malts and hops, well balanced, a touch of citrus. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and is very drinkable. Overall this is a good quality beer.

Standard 12oz brown bottle with a best by date of 12/20/10.

Poured into a SA sensory glass this brew appears a perfectly clear yellow color with a finger of white head. A constant stream of large bubbles rise to the surface in support of the head. Despite the rising bubbles, it doesn't take long before the head receeds to a thin film across the top of the brew with a spotty amount of lace clinging to the glass.

This brew smells of light bready grains that come across as sweet at times. Little to no indication of hops, infact there isnt much going on in this brews aroma outside of a slightly sulfur twang and a very subdued fruitiness that is faint in the back as it warms.

The taste of this brew is crisp, clean and light tasting of bready malt. A very minor note of herbal hops keeps the malt in check as to not allow it to get sweet. In the back is a slight indication of the alcohol's presence. Lingering flavor left inside the mouth is mostly a clean maltiness and slight light fruit almost like pear skin.

This is a light bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Fairly drinkable but not a bold amount of flavor or things to pick out in the nose. However, I can't fault this brew considering I am not that familiar with the American Style Blonde Ale. My impression of this brew is that with it's easy drinkability and lack of big flavor, it would be a likely substitute for a lawnmower beer.

12oz bottle picked up in a mixed sixer. Bottle on the first week of July, notched on the label. Says this is brewed with the finest of Wildflower Honey on the bottle. Nice. Poured into a pint glass.

This beer pours a slightly hazy light gold. A thin off-white head sits on top. Retains poorly. Leaves some light lace on the glass. Upon taking a whiff, I get scents of flowers and some faint hops right away. Further scents of light fruits such as apples and green grapes. Smells light and refreshing.

The body is fairly full for this style. Slightly chewy and has a bit of depth on the back end. Carbonation level is low-to-moderate. Nice clean flavors make this up. The honey comes through a bit in the flavor as there is a mild sweetness present. Bitterness is low on this, but that is expected. Slight grassy notes on the aftertaste. This was pretty good. Every once in awhile, I could go for this style. This is a good representation. Check it out.

12 oz. bottle,

A: Pours blond with a minor white head, no lace, pallid.

S: Notes of honey, some fermented Meyer lemon, sweet citrus, orange maramalade.

T: Lemon and orange blossom honey upfront, slightly sweet finish again with sweet oranges, tangerines. Notes of white grape, very Kolsch like mid-palate, tasty beer.

M: Crisp, tad flabby carbonation but not too bad, light-bodied, refreshing.

D: A pretty good beer in a style that doesn't all too often interest the beer geek. Kind of kolsch with a kiss of mead, definitely worth a try.

12 ounce bottle. Perhaps not surprisingly, pours a bright blonde color with minimal head. Aroma is all cereal malt with some faint grassy hops off in the background. Clear light malted flavor comes through with some light hopping adding to a bittersweet finish. Light mouthfeel with mild carbonation. Most assuredly a beer that comes in on the light end of the spectrum. This isn't a beer that will come out and wow you by any stretch of the imagination. It's a simple, straight forward beer meant to be enjoyed on hot summer days. Pretty not bad.
