A 355ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2012 (I think; it's partly scratched out). Still, only just out of date amirite?! Picked up a little while ago from Trembling Madness in York. What's with the skull & skittles on the label?
Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear coppery-amber hue with light carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of grainy caramel malt with dry, earthy yeast, stewed hops and a mild hint of pine.
Tastes of caramel malt with a dry finish. Notes of grain, biscuits, earthy yeast, stewed hops, faint candy sugar and undertones of pine resin. Slightly sweet. A mild bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, but perhaps a tad insubstantial. Aftertaste of grainy caramel malt and yeast.
An OK brew, though nothing amazing. Primarily malty in flavour, with a subtle touch of hops - kind of like a paler brown ale. Nothing really stands out about it, while the body could perhaps be amped up a little. Drinkable enough, but no need to seek it out.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new offering to me from Ska Brewing Co., acquired as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's. No abv listed on the bottle anywhere.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - It pours a coppery bronze orange colored body with just over a finger of foamy khaki head. Leaves some nice spotty lacing behind. Looks pretty nice.
S - The nose is comprised of sweetened caramel malts, toffee, toasted grains, a bit of soapiness, mild alcohol phenols. A bit of an earthy / twiggy / fruity / berry / herbal tea like presence as well.
T - Taste follows the nose - caramel malt, toffee, herbal / twiggy / earthy tea leaf like flavors, and some mild hop bitterness. Lightly metallic on the finish.
M - The feel is crisp, clean, and malty. Mild fruitiness / bitterness lingering behind on the palate. Medium bodied with good carbonation.
Overall, a solid example of the style from Ska Brewing. This is easily one of the better beers I have had from these guys, and one that is a likely contender for repeat drinking.
