This is a great Pale Ale. Pours a nice dark amber, great malt backbone with medium citrus hops that balance everything out just right. This is different from other winter seasonals and it fits in perfectly, even taking it’s own place. I bought this expecting a pale ale not an IPA and it is everything I wanted it to be and more. I love Modus but it seems like some of the reviews I read knock this for lack of hops. Don’t buy this if you want an IPA but if you want a top quality pale ale this is worth a try for anyone.

12 oz can dated March 25, 2014.

A: Clear, amber body. Decent amount of bubbly head with good retention.

S: Mostly caramel malt. Little bit of citrus from the hops.

T: Nicely balanced pale ale. Reminds me of a less hoppy Modus.

M: A little thin. Decent carbonation.

O: If I'm going to buy Ska, I'll pick up Modus instead.

From my mom on her recent visit to CO.

Poured from a 12oz can, no #freshbeer info.

Copper-colored body, 2-3 fingers worth of foam, tightly latched onto glass, thin rings left on the glass. Sweet grapefruit aroma but dry with assorted citrus fruit. Flavor is much the same with grapefruit rind and pulp taking center stage. Not very bitter surprisingly enough. Good, missing a bit oomph for me to rate it higher but i'd have this again.

From a can poured into a weizen glass.

A - Appearance is very odd for a pale ale; very dark ruby with hints of brown. Good looking, but very interesting for an APA.

S - Smell is kind mild hops with a hint of clove

T - Taste is more enjoyable than the smell. Decent amount of hop presence with a mildly bitter finish. A bit of pine and light fruits.

M - Mouthfeel is decent and the carbonation is on point for the style.

O - Overall I think that Ska can make a great hoppy beer. This one is not quite as good as Modus, but it's a solid little brother to it.
