Black pour with a dark beige one-finger head. Very smooth flavor with a smooth mint taste upfront. Medium body also has an undercurrent of roasted malt and light hops. Smooth and minty finish. Really good and the mint flavor really ads to the typical stout flavor.

Oooof haven't reviewed a beer I really disliked in awhile.
Pours a dark brown with lower viscosity than expected for a stout. Beige head, goes up down, settles at 1/5". Hmmm, hoping everything else was better than the substandard appearance at this point. Woof, the aroma has a toothpaste meets Newcastle kind of vibe. To be fair, their is definitely "mint" going on here. Ok, ok, maybe the taste will be better.
Alright, well the taste sucks. A weird combo of a thin stout, excessive mint notes (Stone's Mint Stout was vastly superior), chalky bitter roasted malt that is strange because there just isn't much in terms of malt, but the notes from it are noticeable and lacking "goodness". I think its the rare stout that would be better off being bigger. Amp this up with sufficient malt and get it to about 7 or 8%, fatten that boy up and he'll do better kind of beer!

Look - Dark, with a khaki colored head. Head dissipates quickly, leaving nothing. No lacing to be found, either pooling on top or down the sides of the glass.
Smell - Hints of chocolate, vanilla and spearmint.
Taste - Roasted chocolate, vanilla, and at the very end a hint of mint.
Feel - Nice mouthfeel and finish ... a bit creamy.
Overall - I only had one, so I really took my time with this beer. Quite enjoyable. I was expecting an almost "Andes mint" style. Not quite there, but I would mind picking this up again if the mood strikes.

12oz can; Globe Drug; 2014?; review a week later; aroma was interesting, but taste was very strange. Glad I tried, but would not drink again.

12oz can poured into a snifter, best by 8/15/15
A- pours a pitch black color with a small fizzy khaki colored head that disappears quickly, leaving nothing behind
S- aromas of cocoa powder, dark roasted malt, spearmint gum, mint toothpaste & a hint of vanilla. The mint becomes more prevelent as it warms
T- chocolaty cocoa powder base with some slight charred malt, a hint of vanilla sweetness mid-palate, the mint kicks in near the finish, but is pretty subtle
M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and finish
O- the mint adds an interesting aspect, although I wish it were a bit stronger. I'd like to see an imperial version of this

A disappointment, solely because it just wasn't minty enough for my liking.
That alone defeats the purpose of going ofter this beer.

Best by 8/15/15.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, mint chocolate, and mint toothpaste aromas. Taste is much the same with mint chocolate, mint toothpaste, and slight char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a somewhat overpowering mint presence that integrates better with the other aromas and flavors as the beer warms up.
Serving type: can.

I love Ska, but I think this one is rated way too high overall. I got more toothpaste-like flavor than stout.

Appearance: Pours black, just black. Not even a hint of ruby highlights, lowlights, or any light, for that matter. A luxurious head of deep tan bubbles, and spectacular lacing.
Aroma: A different kind of stout for sure! There’s the requisite roasty chocolate, sure, but the mint is subtle and appealing.
Taste: Sweet, smooth, and unique. The mint (and vanilla) blends seamlessly with the dark roasted stout and it’s prominent chocolate overtones. This one practically defines “dessert beer”, and it’s a damned tasty treat. Kudos to Ska for branching out and experimenting, as this is one yummy and unique brew.

The vision: peppermint paddy stout. The execution: toothpaste dropped into ashtray. Malt is way over roasted, mint is not balanced. Vanilla can't save this. Smell isn't as obnoxious but same problem persists. Body is light, roasted and breaks up quickly, thin. Appearance is black with clear brown edging
