this is really a great beer, and easily the best of the rotating stout series so far. it is even better than the stone collaboration as far as a mint chocolate stout goes. it pours a luxurious milk chocolate color with a thick and creamy rich tan head, only a half inch or so high, but really dense and persistent. the nose is definitely minty, but I appreciate the blend of peppermint and spearmint, sometimes each can be overly intense, but I think the blend is just right. its balanced with the cocoa and the medium to dark roasted barley. the flavor is also quite balanced, soft and drinkable, not shocking or bizarre. rich sweeter chocolate blends with the fresh mint perfectly, and the bitter burnt malt and cocoa powder is a nice contrast in the finish. the can says vanilla was added, but I cant pick up much of that, maybe just a touch in the finish too, but its way back. the mouthfeel is awesome. its very smooth and easy down, but its extremely full bodied as well. the carbonation is light and hard to describe, its almost like a nitro beer with its thickness and tickly little bubbles, but its a little less charged up. overall I liked this beer a lot, definitely skas best stout, and a lot like those junior mint candies I remember from being a kid. not sure id want to drink a whole six pack though.

Dark mahogany color in the globe glass with a surprisingly dark foam. Pleasantly sudsy in the mouth. Malty body. Tantalizing powerful aroma of mint, slightly alarming at first, but there is a hoppy edge that provides the right balance.
Really minty flavor, with the chocolate not far behind. It starts out sweet but reverts to a dark and beery flavor. It's an engaging transformation. There is a lot of rough and blackened flavor here, but it's all mellowed by the sweet malt. The flavorings seem just right for the rambunctious stout base.
Highly drinkable and surprisingly silly flavor, but a real treat for an oddball experience. From the 12 oz can purchased at Wilbur's Total Beverage in Fort Collins.

Opaque ebony body with a thin brown head; lots of sticky lacing on the glass. Prominent mint and chocolate aromas (like a Girl Scout chocolate mint cookie). Flavor mirrors the aroma -- sweet and minty; a smooth vanilla line running through it all. Medium-heavy body; silky smooth mouthfeel.
Now here is a treat of a stout! The can label mentions spearmint and peppermint in the ingredients, and they very much make their presence known, yet everything really gels and mixes together nicely. It's a grand mixture of chocolate and mint flavors with great balance overall. Nothing hammers you at the expense of other flavor components. Rich, deeply complex and very much a slow-drinking stout to savor and swoon over. Unique and deeply enjoyable.
