Stout brewed with peppermint, spearmint, cocoa and vanilla beans

Appearance: Has the classic stout look, with a very nice head that sticks and leaves plenty of lace behind

Smell: Minty and chocolatey

Taste: Minty, with chocolate flavors buttressing through the middle; after the swallow, the vanilla and lactose add another angle

Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation

Overall: After having had a few disappointments with chocolate mint beers (the Stone collaboration being one), this one finally does the trick; tastes like Thin Mints in a bottle (or should I say, a can)

12 oz can. Pours brown black with a medium creamy tan head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is roasted malts, mint, vanilla and a little coffee and leather.

The flavor is sweet chocolate and vanilla malts, some roast and a lot of mint. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a little odd with the sweet chocolate and vanilla, roast and mint, but I think I like it.

Stout brewed with peppermint, spearmint, cocoa and vanilla beans

12 ounce can - Best before dating towards the bottom of the can - 11-05-13

Pours dark cola, under an initially quite large and looser and then departing dark tan head, leaves a fine bubble film and some slight low sheeting.

Light chocolate and more then a hint of mint on the nose.

Flavorful with a slightly off putting minty overload pushing the milk chocolate character towards the rear.

Carbonation slightly elevated, but not to the prickly level.

Ehh, this one is not really doing it for me, probably would be more enjoyabe with some sort of chocolate dessert in front of me

A 355ml can with no visible BB date. Picked up a while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label states that it contains peppermint, spearmint, milk, cocoa and vanilla - what a combination!

Poured into a Duvel tulip. A very dark brown hue that appears pitch black in the glass. Yields a large head of creamy beige foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of intensely minty chocolate - the initial impression is a mint chocolate bar. Underneath this are subtle hints of vanilla, lactose and faint roasted malt. Sweet and decidedly minty.

Tastes of mint and chocolate malt, with a mild finish. Notes of mint, chocolate, sugar, lactose, vanilla, mild roasted malt and faint yeast. No hops to speak of, but a faint herbal harshness. Pretty sweet, followed by a lingering minty character upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation but a rather thin, insubstantial body for the style. Aftertaste of sweet minty chocolate.

Unusual - first mint beer that I've tried and it's pretty good. I suppose that chocolate and mint are bound to be a winning combination. Looks alright, while the aroma is amazing; just like mint-infused chocolate. Taste is OK, but less intense and with a slight harshness in the background. Weak body - too thin for the style. Overall, it's definitely an original take on a milk stout. One for mint fans; worth sampling if you come across it.

12 ounce can (from June 2013 notes).

Pours deep, dark cola color; clear; huge, foamy, durable tan head with globs of sticky lacing.

Aroma: Smoky dark roast + vanilla + mint; wierd, but got more appealing with exposure.

Flavor: same components as the smell, but Ska has gone too far with the mint. Both spearment and peppermint are obvious and dominant from start to finish. Some roasted malt and cocoa powder in the aftertaste. A bit sweet.

Feel: Medium carbonation; creamy smooth; medium body.

O: too minty.

(Served in a Nonic)
A- This beer pours a jet black body with a bubbly tan head that last a good bit.

S- The minty herbal aroma reminds me of old time aftershave with some vanilla notes in the finish. Some woody herbal qualities come through as it warms. Some brewer’s licorice comes through in the finish aswell.

T- The spearmint flavor is fresh but mild with a roasted black malt finish that is stronger. The blend of cocoa nibs and slight fresh mint hint linger in the finish.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a gentle fizz in the finish.

O- This beer is really well built and all the flavors blend and balances but they are not muttled. This is very interesting and the mellow stout is really needed to show the mint.

Medium sized light brown head dies to a quarter inch or less of frothy head above a clear dark brown to black colored beer.

Dark roasted malts, black licorice, and vanilla aroma.

Black licorice and dark roasted malts with a hint of vanilla in the taste of this stout.

Dryish aftertaste with a bit of the black licorice hanging around with this full bodied beer.

A little different than your standard stout, this might serve better as a dessert beer or something along those lines.

Appearance: Black coffee. Not a whole lot of foam, but there is a thin layer of lacing. Fairly thin overall.

Smell: Mint and cocoa. Very fresh. Would like it a bit stronger.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Strong dark chocolate. A bit liquer-like. Mint in the finish. Very clean. Seems a bit thin at first, but there's a nice minty freshness in the finish.

Overall: I would have liked this with a bit more umph in the presentation, but I did enjoy this.

I picked this up based on the reviews I've read claiming it was liquid thin mints, and that description is pretty accurate.

Appearance: I poured it into a generic pint glass to scope it out. It's a pretty standard looking stout. Very dark brown, and still lets a little light through. Darker tan head that leaves some lacing.

Smell: It has a pretty strong menthol mint smell to it, with some slight notes of chocolate in the background.

Taste: It tastes just like it smells. A solid burst of menthol up front that finishes with a milk chocolate flavor.

Mouthfeel: It has a pretty medium mouthfeel, maybe a little bit on the thinner side of medium. Not overly carbonated either.

Overall: I enjoyed it. It's more of a novelty stout to me than anything, so I don't think I'd buy a 6 pack of it again, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes thin-mints or just odd-flavored stouts. It was worth trying.

BBD of 24 JUL 14

Pours mahogany with 2+ fingers of mocha colored head. Pretty good lacing & head retention

S: Chocolate & mint

T: Follows the nose with mint dominating & faint woody & grassy hops as well up front. Medicinal & minty flavors with a little bit of carob as this warms. Finishes with mintyness, & a little bit of dryness

MF: Light bodied with moderate carbonation, thins out as it warms

This is probably my least favorite of their canned stouts. Thought I would love it, pretty refreshing none the less
