One of many beers tasted on a whirlwind tour of Spain. Loved Granada (the city) but this beer was a real disappointment. Very mild, yet raw (like the brewers haven't bothered to work with it at all). Avoid: there are many better choices in Granada and in Spain.

Refreshing and easy to drink, but it doesn't have much flavor or character to it.

A -This one is clear, pale yellow, and supports a big fluffy white head that leaves some crisp dry lace on the glass. The head gets rocky on it's way down to a solid finger, where it stays for quite a while. This is a good lookin' brew.

S - Dank Euro-lager hops...like Grolsch or Heineken, on top of honeyed tea-like malt base. This is sweet and pleasant, and pretty damn complex for the style.

T - Again, black tea with honey and lots of sugar. Sweet flavors clash a bit with the acrid hops (think Danish green-bottle beers), and the hints of fruit. This one smells a lot better than it tastes.

M - Light bodied, but with more heft than most Latin-lagers. Relatively mellow carbonation and a sugary coating texture muddle this up a bit...it might have been better taking the high-carbonation route like other basic lagers.

D - This one tastes very strange, but not bad by any means. Hey, at least it has character in a style full of very similar and boring beers.

Spain isn't known for her beers, and this one's a perfect example of why not. It's decent enough and didn't really exhibit any flaws, but it certainly didn't have the superior production quality of Budweiser ...it's just a regular basic beer. On the other hand, it does have a touch of hops (and some mild "skunk") in the nose, and a little more grainy/husky/ straw-like malt character than most of the mass produced American lagers. It's refreshing and respectable, but just average.

Clear, golden in hue with a very slight amber highlight. There are a few bubbles slowly dancing towards the white head. On a harder than normal pour a head of one finger in height formed. The retention of this head was fair, after a couple moments it faded to a tight cap. There was no subsequent lacing.

The first aroma I detected was lightstuck hops, even though the bottle is brown. Then I thought maybe this Spanish brewery was going for some trendy Euro-lager minus the green bottle. But all my ensuing sniffs didn’t produce a similar aroma, at least with the same potency. I could detect a trace of hops, grassy. There is a solid malt aroma too, plain but malty nevertheless. Neutral nose.

The palate is easy drinking and pleasant. Clean throughout. Upfront is a crisp maltiness that offers little flavor complexities and it gives way to the citrus, herbs, and grass in the middle. At the finish is a decent bite of hops. I even get a hint of heat, from the alcohol? Refreshing. Simplistic. Still, this beer has nothing to be ashamed of. Don’t fool yourself I don’t have any reason to drink it again but I would “recommend” this to anybody that only drinks B/M/C/ products. I’m not sure if I’d label this an “Adjunct Lager” either, as that is insulting to this decent lager. It might be adjunct free.

Medium in body with a good amount of carbonation, this aids in the refreshing taste, it has good cutting power. The mouthfeel is pleasant.

Well, this beer is easy to drink; it won’t knock your socks off with hidden flavor components, however. I bought a single 12-ounce bottle in Omaha (I don’t get to type that enough!!) for $1.90.

Note: Brown longneck bottle, red and white label, “Alhambra Premium Lager” on the bottle. I assume this is the same beer that is listed here. Change request has been submitted.

I had this beer on tap at various bars/restaurants in Granada, Spain. I also had it out of a 1 liter bottle in Granada as well.

The beer pours a clear gold color with a nice frothy head. All of the beers in Spain have a good presentation and nice lacing, especially Mahou. Good carbonation but not overly so like many macros in the USA.

Smells slightly sweet and pleasing.

Tastes sweet and malty with a hint of hops in the finish. This is what I wish USA macros tasted like on tap. It's not a hugely flavorful beer but it has enough to make it pleasing to drink with tapas (appetizers in Spain). This was my favorite of the several beers I tried during my stay.

Mouthfeel was light to medium boddied. The carbonation came with thin bubbles but not too much.

Alhambra is an excellent beer of this style. I hold it up there with Schlitz.

330ml brown bottle, embossed. Says "Premium Lager" on this one Regular Euro lager appearance light golden with a large fluffy white head. Aroma is pretty grassy/grainy. Some doughy scents too. Taste is semi-sweet, quite noticable malty with peppery hoppiness appearing soon after and in the after taste. Quite "soft" on the palate, lowish carbonation. Overall an average European lager, but its quite nice and better than American macro type lagers.

Malty sweet aroma w noble hops. Poured a thick rocky white head with decent retention. Crystal clear, a pale straw color. Sweet malt flavors followed by mild hop bitterness. Light-bodied
with a clean finish. Served with a spicy dish, was a good pairing. A simple lager that wasn't impressive.

I really liked Alhambra's Negra lager, so I was happy to get a bottle of
their premium lager. It pours a nice stiff head over a clear golden brew.
Carbonation is active, and the nose is malt and sharp lager yeast. The
flavor is crisp malt with a mild grassy hop finish. There's pretty good
lacing up and down the glass, and not a trace of rice or corn either. The
mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing. There's nothing flashy here, just a good,
basic, competently executed lager. Like Negra, a good session brew for
a hot day.

We purchased alhambra on one of my last nights in barcelona at El Corte Ingles because the other markets around town are pretty much dominated by Damm and its products.

But it wasn't anything fantastic. Alhambra's pour, smell, taste are simply as bad (or good) as an average Estrella (although way above a Mahou, for example). It's drier than it is sweet, and seems a bit sour thanks to the hops and the weather which warmed it up pretty quickly.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a pale yellow color and a clear consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, bright white, fairly long-lasting head. No lacing at all.

S: Had a grainy aroma, with traces of malt and a little citrus.

T: Tasted of grain, malt and a little lemon, but mainly it was just thin and watery. Very little character.

M: A decent amount of carbonation with a slick finish. Light-bodied.

D: Not a very drinkable beer.

The beer falls a bit short, even for Macro-beer status. Begins with the typical yellow-straw color, abundantly carbonated, but with a foamy head retention that kept firm and had decent lacing. Aromas are a grain-balance, with a strong sour note. Flavors confirmed that the acedaldahyde was very agressive, leaving the mouthfeel very astringent and tart -- way too much for style. Past that, the beer kept a grain dominant flavor with firm backup notes of pilsner malt, light earthy, grassy hops, and green apples. Would have finished crisp, if not for the contiuing tartness. A tough of vegetable (dms) flavors came through late, but proved light otherwise. I'll likely not purchase this beer again.

12oz brown bottle poured into a goblet like glass at The Dali
Straw yellow in color with a thick white head that settled slowly.
The aroma was of weak malt or grain.
Flavor was very light, no discernable hops, mostly again a grain or malt like character.
Moderately carbonated, it went pretty smooth.
If no other options i could drink a few of these on a warm afternoon.

12 oz.

Pours a wheat gold, very slightly hazy, minor sugar white head with quick dissipation but maintains as a film throughout.

Smells like barley malts. Nothing more, nothing less.

Tastes like barley malts as well, plus a bit of corn and very minor non-bitter hops.

Very crips feel. The carbonation is fairly soft.

Pretty good, goes well with Spanish food. Nothing spectacular but not hard to take either.

Large brown screw top litre bottle

Pours ith a light amber body, darker than alot of pale mexi or spanish lagers. Puffy head which stays around for a while

Smell is simple, dry and husky

Taste is quite dry and refreshing. Nuttiness and a fair bit of flavour,

I tried this as i was curious, having never seen it before. It suprised me, and if i'm ever looking for a simple, refreshing lager to quench my thirst or clean my palette then I may give it a go again

Poured a light golden color with moderate white puffy head. Smell is on the sweet side, with a mild malty presence. Taste is suprisingly enjoyable, with some fruity sweetness balanced by a nice hoppiness at the ending. Very freshing and very drinkable. A step above other beers in this class.
