I had this (vom fass) at the brewery.

A: Very clear, slight yellow; white head, some retention and lace.

S: Bready, fresh grassy hops, caramel, slight earthyness.

T: Bready; grassy, clean (almost soapy), slightly earthy hops (saaz flavour). It starts out nicely balanced, finishes with an earthy bitterness.

M: Light to moderate body is slightly creamy. Moderate to high carbonation.

D: Good.

Poors in with nice white head that is not overwelning but lasting. Beercolor is pale gold and totaly clear. Nice nose thats estery, cirtussy hoppy and that mixed with some maltnotes. Taste is fully flavoured also maty and litle sweet, fresh and then going into a good bitterness. Drinkability is that of a good pilsener so hard to beat! Great brew and a good beer but maybe litle malty for a pilsener.

Half litre bottle, poured into pint glass.

A: Pale golden colour, clear, half finger fading head. Not overly lively looking.

S: Initial nutty mushroom, later some noble hop and sour dough.

T: Grassy bitterness, some sour dough and hop content. Not as harsh as north some German Pils but slightly bland.

M: Thin texture, well carbonated, coarse.

O: Competent but forgetable, won't be revisiting anytime soon.

This was a gift from Uncle Jimbo, so thank you Jim! Hmm, I liked this, and am glad it was still good (I just noticed that the bottle says it would be good till 5/3/04!). Golden straw in color, I was able to pour a 2 inch head into my glass (tall Schweins Brau glass). Beer was pretty happy to be out of the bottle, as I was able to do that twice as I was getting all the beer out of the bottle into the glass. My initial impressions was that there was the tang of metal in the air as I took a whiff. There's still a bit of a brassy note as I drink, but it has taken on more of a syrupy, malty aroma. Taste was also interesting at first, my first sip seemed to end in a tangy bittery flavor. Further enjoyment (after about 20 minutes) reveals a solid medium mouthfeel, small tight carbonation that hits first and leaves. Taste is made up of slight corny malt (I know it doesn't sound good, but it's ok in this one), followed by lingering grassy hop bitterness. Yes, I would drink this all night if available, no prob. Ingredients are: Wasser, Malz, Hopfen, and my personal favorite: Hopfenextrakt

Sampled on tap at the brewery.

This pils poured a clear, golden yellow color with fizzy carbonation and pillowy, white foam that was persistent and clung to the sides of the glass. The smell was nicely malty with bread and grain. The taste was bready malty with good notes of grain. There were some floral hops notes and some hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel was smooth and clean with medium body and good carbonation with a touch of carbonation sharpness. This was a very nice pils. Very enjoyable.
