Pours a cloudy golden orange with a half finger white head that melts to a nice thin ring.
Aroma is pure hops...fresh, bright, clean, piney hops. Intensely beautiful.
Flavor is not as intense as the aroma...slightly sweet amber malt initially hits the tongue and then ...wham...the hops take over.
Maybe slightly one-dimensional, but cascade hops <?> intense on the palette...some grapefruit peel and lots of pine oils and resins.
Mouthfeel is pleasant for the style...neither too thick and cloying nor too thin and weak.
Aftertaste is a blend of the malts and hops with the hops winning out just enough to dry the tongue making you thirsty for another sip.

Bottle. Pale IPA, seems mild at first, but has lingering hops/grapefruit on the finish, and stays on the palate for a while. Interesting take on the style.

From Colville to Spokane to Seattle Mike Hale has been for 34 years leading the way in micro brews. Way ahead of his time. This new label beer is delish. I wish I could find it in more places in Spokane. Send me a case MIke, and I'll spread the brew . . .

Purchased in a case of bottles at Costco; poured from a bottle into a pint glass. It's a hazy yellow-amber, with slightly under-average carbonation. It has an earthy, piney, barley taste, with a strong hop character which borders on harsh. A bit more bitter than I prefer. It's no easy-drinking, refined, session beer. An old-fashioned IPA which is reminiscent of home brews. In the average range for IPAs.

12 oz bottle, no date

Dark copper in color, white head. earthy grassy hop aroma. Old school hops. Taste is fairly bitter, some biscuit malt flavor to balance. Medium bodied.

Darker than average ipa, this is like an amber ipa here. Auburn. The head is thick and in that 3/5" range. Aroma imparts some dry hopping, nothing exotic, its an old recipe, mostly non proprietary hops I gather.

Taste is a mix of decent hopping and woody amber and red malts. Its a decent local option for a 6 pack, affordably priced, widely available in the PacNW. Think grilling outside, an option when you don't wanna carry around tasting glasses and look for notes of fennel or whatever weird 750ml DFH bottle you've been dying to try.

Could use some bottle dating. I've loved this beer, I've been disappointed by this beer.

12oz bottle, from another random grocery store in Sandpoint, Idaho last week. Why do I get the feeling that this brewery falls along the lines of Red Hook?

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and slightly bubbly ecru head, which leaves some decent tightly webbed lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of perky pine needles, muddled citrus pith, grainy, bready caramel malt, further forest floor astringencies, a bit of pineapple core, and more musty, earthy, and floral hops. The taste is bitter pine resin and orange/grapefruit pulp bitterness, gritty pale and caramel malt, a subtle hard water flintiness, and a whole lot more herbal, leafy, and floral hops bitters.

The bubbles are fairly active in their swirling and peppy frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and sort of smooth, those hop kiddies messing around just a bit too much here for this codger's liking. It finishes rather dry, the malt having bled out, as the hops start to realize the power that they now wield.

Not a bad west coast IPA, the typically distinct pine/citrus esters found in the better versions of the regional style perhaps a tad more blended here than they ought to be. Anyways, easy enough to drink, and nicely bitter, in a subtly floral manner.

Enjoyed on cask on Bainbridge Island, WA. Pours a hazy orange color with an off-white head and lazy lacing. The nose is full of caramel malt with some piney notes. The taste holds true, with loads of biscuit and slight citrus. Very well balanced. This medium bodied brew pared well with some calamari at the Harbour Public House. Cheers!
