What the store lacks in overall appearance (kind of dusty, grungy) it more than makes up for it in selection.

As stated above, the place doesn't retain it's customers by way of shiny floors and comfortable lighting - but what the heck, its a liquor store.

Selection is great, it's only rival in town being Wilbur's give or take on a week-to-week basis.

Service is rather non-existent, just the way I like it (nine times out of ten, anyhow).

The store sits just outside city limits, so they don't have to charge the city's sales tax. It's not gonna make a huge difference in the short run, but I suppose that a loyal patron would see some payoff over time.

All that said, this is my preferred shopping location in town.

To all those complaining about location, that is intentional. The Ft. Collins county line ends at Laporte, and placing Supermarket Liquors just over this line eliminates a portion of the tax that you would pay at any liquor stores in town. That being said, their quality and prices are fantastic. Don't go there looking for anything ridiculously obscure, but their selection is phenomenal. If I can't find something anywhere else, Supermarket is always my go-to.

Great store, just not as conveniently located for me as I'd like. Not the biggest selection of refrigerated sixers, some are room temp on the shelves, but a great bomber and special bottles selection. One of those stores that can carry some great beers on the shelves after the bigger stores have long since sold old. Service is solid, offering assistance and taking the time to go find out if a particular bottle you might be seeking out might be in the back. Value is reasonable and on par with the going rate it does seem.

Supermarket is incredible. The best part about that store is the service, Most employees seem to have tried everything in there and know whats available. Other employees don't know a lot but are always willing to help. The selection is great. Everytime I shop there they have new beers that I have never heard of. Their beer aisle runs the length of the store and the rare bomber section is almost as long - with really tall shelves. The store is dated but the prices are great so its worth checking out. The best aspect for beer geeks is they offer ten percent off a case of bombers.

This store is a gem. A bit cramped for space but a little paradise of rarer brews that doesn't get swallowed up in the crowds at the larger stores. Very good values and outside of the city limit for sales tax. Their aisle for craft beer reaches from the front to the back flanked with coolers and a cold mix-6 selection in front as well as clearance items. Some bottles in the back get a bit dusty at times and they might overprice a buck here and there for a bottle or two but at the end of the day the reliable selection here exceeds anywhere else in the fort.

Went to this place on my way out of Fort Collins to stock up on some beers I cannot get locally. Very good beer selection from some of the top breweries across the US and Europe. The employees will help you find what you need and suggest new things to try as they are very knowledgeable. If you are very nice and know what to ask for, they might even find you something in the back. They will sometimes offer a 10% discount if you get 12 or more bombers. Was a little disappointed by the selection of local beers (New Belgium, Odell, Funkwerks, Crooked Stave, etc...). I assumed that most of the local breweries would provide a good spread, but it turns out that the brewery is probably the best place to get the good stuff.

Stopped by this store on a recent trip to Fort Collins. It's basically a large liquor store with a huge beer selection that takes up almost a third of the store.

When walking in, the beer section is on the far right wall. There is a long aisle with about 15 coolers on one side and large shelves on the other for room temperature bottles and glassware.

The selection here is pretty good with all of the locals represented including Funkwerks, FT Collins, Odells, etc. In additn they have a bunch of other CO and other domestic craft as well as a very nice selection of European beers. Lots of Mikkeller, Nogne O, Epic, Xbeeriment and many others. They didn't have much lambic but other than that I was pretty impressed. It was also the only place in the area where I could find Odell 750s. I picked up Friek and Epic Brainless on Cherries.

I recommend checking this place out if you are vsiting the breweries in Fort Collins.

Supermarket Liqours isn't a fancy looking store, but they do stock a lot of beers, including many that are harder to find in this area. I've been many times in the last couple of months and they've always had Abyss, Supplication (and other RR sours), Serpents Stout, Boulevard IS and many others on the shelves. The service is a bit spotty as it's more of a working man's liquor store, but if you don't have a lot of questions this is a great place to come for some great beers. They seem to move stock well, and you'll see beers that are past their prime at super discounted prices. It's outside the city limits, which saves a bit of money as well w/ less tax. Overall, solid.

This is my go to beer store in Norther Colorado. Selection is great, with a ton of craft and import bottles for sale. Almost all their bombers are stored and sold warm, on shelves opposite of the coolers, which hold a few bombers, and most of the six packs and cases. if I had one complaint, it would be that they should store the IPA's cold. Oh well, the bottles are clean and always organized. Prices are reasonable on everything. Don't expect a ton of help, since this is a big place and isn't beer focused. But, you should be able to figure it out. Overall, it's a solid place, although getting into the parking lot can be a pain in the ass.

One of the cheapest liquor stores in the Fort Collins, this used to be on the outskirts of town, outside the city tax zone. So it still holds a reputation as a super cheap beer store. The selection here is excellent, with a wide arrange of breweries to choose from, a huge selection of imports and great choice of individual cans and bottles of seasonals. Wonderful selection, rivaling the choices in Wilbur's. Service is average, the staff could probably help you find something specific in you asked for it, but I don't know if they could recommend anything from experience.

A great beer store if you want to head out east a bit for low prices and great selection.

My last visit was on May 15, 2010.

I've been meaning to do a review for quite some time, especially since they upped their *game* by carrying a lot of most excellent craft beers.

This is the place where I've bought, for example, Deschutes Black Butte XXI, Russian River Supplication-Damnation-Temptation, Alaskan Baltic Porter-Barleywine, various Boulevard Smoke Stacks, and the list goes on.

Unlike visits well into the past, besides carry a greater and higher quality selection, the past few visits show more care, like the bottles on the shelves are pretty much dust free. Ok, a small point, but it does show a more caring attitude towards their stock and that's a winning attitude.

Prices are reasonable across the board and sometime they're lower than other stores in town.

I say this is a must visit beer store. 'nuff said.

I have to add this tidbit: I was at the checkout stand with lots of 22oz bottles. The manager came over and said high and then told the clerk to discount them 10%! I loved it and thanked him for it!

This is the First true beer store that I walked into and was just floored. The The quality of the products is wonderful. They have such a wide array of products it would leave you broke. The service there is good also. They had a few beer reps there that offered some of there services to customer who didn't know the ropes. Now it comes to selection, which to me is fantastic. They got rare beers, they got generic beers, and run of the mill every day brews. I loved the fact that if you walked in with 500 dollars, you would walk out a very happy but broke BA. The prices are a bit pricey. The cashiers there are really friendly and make sure that you got what yo were looking for. The only complaint that I would have about this store is, it is a little cramp. There is a lot going on in such a small space. If some organization and order was done this store would be classy. I will go back again and again. I live in Idaho and it is a drive but well worth it for me.

Well the story I have heard back in the day is that Supermarket Liquors was located outside of city limits and therefore could charge cheaper rates than inside city limits. Fact, Fiction, not really sure but they are one of the cheaper places to find beers.

Located on Mulberry just east Lemay, it is kind of complicated to get there but easy enough. The building itself looks a little shady but its what's inside that counts. When you first enter, there are rows and rows of wine and liquor. Just head right and go towards the back wall where all the cooler space is. A great selection of Colorado beers, NB, Odells, Ft Collins, Avery, GD, Ska, Boulder, Steamworks, Oskar Blues etc. Some regular favorites North Coast, Victory, DFH, etc. There is a smaller selection of 22/750's in the corner as well and there are some really good discounted beers as well. Across from the coolers are the seasonal and imported selection. Very huge selection of Belgium, English, Irish, Germany and US beers. If I had a grip it's that I would want these beers in the cooler versus some of those outside but eh.

I would say that Supermarket Liquor has just as good as a selection than Wilburs. Sometimes better as Wilburs will sell out faster and you can find in there. If you are in Northern Colorado there are three places to go: Liquor Max, Wilburs and Supermarket Liquors. Of the three I would say Sup's is the cheapest.

The staff is a downer. Really the are not knowledgeable. Some are ok and other are not. If you know what you are looking for, then you are set. But if you don't they have a huge selection and typically they go through beers fairly quickly to ensure fresh beer. So there you have it.

Supermarket Liquors looks like a fun place from the outside but it's not until you go in that you realize what you're in for. It appears to have cheap beer and wine writen all over it but there's actually a very good selection of domestic craft brews and imported specialties.

The array is not quite as overwhelming as Wilbur's but you're more likely to find a good deal here. They have a bargain bin that's usually full of past-their-prime stuff. A while back they had some westmalle dubbel and tripel for $2.99 each (330ml), which is about 1/2 price.

Service is nothing to shout about but there are some knowledgeable people working there. They just won't ask if you need help, you have to ask them first.

In and out. That's what it's supposed to be. Find your beer and get out. But, damn it, I always get caught up looking at all the selections like a little kid. Great selection of beers. Belgian, local CO brews, craft beer from all over, and yes, cases upon cases of crap beer. I do like the mixed six-pack cooler and the specials corner. $2.99 red tag Belgians and $1.99 bombers. I could spend way too much money in there. Great place. Not as nice as Wilburs, but does the job just the same. Easy access to and from my house;)
