Checked this place out on a recent visit to La Jolla. Defintely a huge selection with a wide variety. I'm guessing you'll find whatever you're looking for here. I was hoping to pick up some Hoptimum but they were out (they did have it at one time though). The staff seemed very friendly and willing to help. I'm guessing since they have suck a huge volume of inventory it helps them keep the price down a little (or in line) so it won't break the bank.
Probably the place I would go for beers in the area...unless you want some Pliny, then go to Whole Foods.

First BevMo I visited and was pleasantly surprised. The selection was pretty good...I had hoped to find a few more rarities, though. I was a bit disappointed that there was no Russian River at all. None, not even Blind Pig or Elder. The guy working in the beer dept. was very helpful. Enjoyed talking beer with him and was happy about the 5% discount he threw my way. I was able to purchase the shippers I needed to get my beers back home to Delaware here, also. Nice, clean store and helpful staff. Worth a visit.

Went here today for a good 20 minutes to browse and hopefully get my hands on the new Stone XIV Anniversary Ale but no dice til later in the week. Oh well, just have to go back!
And I say that happily.
BevMo has some pretty great deals and selections, and this branch is no exception. There is a full aisle, both sides lined, with craft beers and another aisle dedicated to foreigns, like British, Canadian, German, Mexican, Belgian, etc. There is also a refridgerated section as well, but all in all pretty good selection. The Trappists were nice as well, but I was a little surprised at the lack of upper-end depth on that end. For American beers, however, it's tough to beat. Plus, all the BevMo rewards are a major plus as well.
Service was alright. One guy was really unhelpful today, another was very polite and friendly, but both knew the stock, which is a good thing. Didn't really get into beer shop talk, but seemed knowledgeable enough. Definitely worth checking out if for no other reason than the depth and quality of many west coast beers and a quite a few others.

Stopped in here after having dinner at La Jolla Brewhouse (within walking distance which was nice). The beer is in the back of the store by the coolers. There are three rows (two are American craft and the other is imports). There were about 6 to 8 coolers (I didn't really count).
I must say that there were not very many bottles on the shelves compared to other BevMo's I've been too. I think they might not have restocked since the weekend. I was impressed with the selection of San Diego brews available but then again there should be good selection since it's in San Diego. Lots of Stone, The Lost Abbey, AleSmith, Karl Strauss, Lightening, etc. Good selection of many other California brews and decent selection of other west coast brews. In the import section found Thomas Hardy which I thought was really cool since I haven't seen this at any other BevMo. The coolers were filled with the same beers that were on the shelves so nothing much to say about those.
Service was non-existent and there were not that many people in the store. Then again I only saw three employees so I wasn't too surprised by no one coming up and asking if I needed help. Checking out the guy didn't really attempt to make any conversation even as I tried to strike up a little small talk. Oh well.
I would like to stop by here again when the shelves are restocked just to see what they all have. Overall it was a good selection just no service to speak of. Would recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

Probably the best BevMo in the San Diego area. Always a consistently strong and varied selection. The staff knows what they are talking about. Sometimes you can get one that's been tucked away in the cooler. Frequent in-store tastings are a plus. All AleSmith and Stone, always in stock. Good selection of Moylans/Marin, Drake's, and other West Coast products. Prices are consistent and reasonable. This is one of my go-to places to get beer as you can always finds something you like and something you haven't tried yet.

Located a half block by the La Jolla Brew Pub...I walked over here after lunch at the brew pub. Nice solid selection of beer. I saw lots of Ballast Point, Alesmith - including the Alesmith-Stone-Jolly Pumpking beer, and just tons of other beer that an out of towner like myself look for. I did not end up buying too much new stuff...I think only 3 beers I have not tried to date -but it is getting hard for me to find new beers that I have not had yet-. I would definitely stop by if you are in the area, espeially if you are an out of towner looking to stock up the Hotel fridge...

On my recent trip to San Diego I tried to figure out where the best place to buy a few single bottles of beer would be while still staying close to a few brewpubs, and Beverages & More is what I came up with.
It's in La Jolla, just a few steps from The La Jolla Brewhouse, and only blocks from a Karl Strauss.
The six-pack selection was good, and the 22 oz. selection was great. I didn't have any trouble selecting 12 bottles to ship back home, and a lot of that included specialty beers (Anniversary beers and what not) that are kind of one-shot deals.
The prices were good and the store was very well kept.
I was approached multiple times by staff that asked me if I needed any help. Personally I see that as a feeble sales approach (just asking if you need help), but at least I was greeted. Had I had a question, I'd have had many takers to answer it. However, based on what I overheard through other customers interactions, these guys know what they're talking about and aren't afraid to make a straight-forward suggestion, and I like that. I mainly heard wine suggestions, but each time the salesperson was right on with their recommendation, and I'd have to imagine that they'd be able to do the same thing with beer as well.

The La Jolla Bevmo is probably the best one in SD for sure. The guy who runs the beer section, DarkElf on BA, does a fantastic job of keeping the bottles up to date, well stocked, organized, and rotated. I've often been able to find things here that you don't see just anywhere. Tonight I picked up a Monk's Cafe and a Duchesse, which I'm pretty sure other Bevmo's would not carry. I could be wrong, I mostly only visit the La Jolla, Mission Valley, and Torrance Bevmos. Either way, job well done at this location.

The LJ BevMo is two blocks from my house, so I am a little biased. The store is wide open and clean, and fairly well stocked with any alcohol you might need. They have a decent sized cooler and three aisles of craft-brews and imports that are quite impressive. There is a noticeable lack of good east coast choices, but that is the same most anywhere in SD. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable in all regards, and the service is definitely the high point. Steven, one of the local beer experts, puts together an exciting and fun beer tasting every Friday (4-7pm) that is highly recommended. He will usually taste specific styles or breweries with the occasional surprise guest (Chuck Silva from Green Flash showed up with a growler of HopHead Red last month). Check it out if you're in the area, especially for the Friday tastings!!!
