Pours copper with a thin white head that becomes a fine covering. Lacing sticks.
The smell is of caramel, pine and some vague fruity notes.
The taste is of sweet caramel. Resiny pine from the hops come through but it stays a malt-forward interpretation of the style.
Some boozy alcohol shows. Herbal bitterness with caramel sweetness in the finish.
It is on the fuller side of medium bodied. Smooth despite the showing of alcohol.
A bit heavy on the caramel sweetness, but enough hops come through to fit (mainly pine). A sipper - a decent but certainly not great, DIPA.

22oz bottle served in a big snifter. I don't see a date on the bottle, but it seems to have hit the shelves of the store I bought it from on 6/21/2016.
Pours ruby amber with little head and and little carbonation. Smell is musty, oaky, very much like a barleywine. Looks like one, too, now that the smell brings it to mind.
Taste is is a super hopped barleywine. It pulls it off pretty nicely, too.
Mouthfeel is smooth, surprisingly thin and light. Overall, pretty tasty beer.

Bottle from Winco. Deep copper pour, minimal off white head rings the glass. Aroma is deep, rich malts and piney hops. Taste favors more of the hops, nice slick body, caramelly malts in the background. Bitter finish.

Pours a crystal clear red amber, with a dense one inch head. Aroma is classic IPA: a little citrus, a little pine and a little swampy. Taste is not what I expected at all. Tons of sweet malt up front (strange because it doesn't smell that sweet) and an absolute blast of harsh bitterness that doesn't layer at all with the other flavors. It's sort of like having two youtube windows open on your laptop playing different songs at the same time. It's not strictly terrible, but it's the sort of brew you can't drink with dinner or really focus on anything else while you navigate it. Mouthfeel is nice and chewy, but that bitterness lingers a tad too long.
