Sampled this for the first time and was very pleased. Reminded me a little of Stone. Color was a light amber (or deep gold) slightly hazed, with a medium, light tan head that remained and lightly laced the glass. First experience is a bitterness balanced well with a sweetness that has an almost-nutty undertone. The front end quickly dissipated to slight resiny, peppery notes and then finished with a lemony/grapefruit rise. Nose was light resiny but complimented the flavors perfectly. No off flavors, unlike the Session IPA version. Great example of the style, well balanced and this is Long Trail's best swing at an AIPA, including Brown Bag. Understanding it is a scratch offering, hopefully we will see it come to those of us outside of VT.

12 ounce bottle from the 12 bottle box.

1-6-14 etched onto the bottle, bottling date?

Pours heavily hazed lighter and yellowy . Frothy off white head, stays nicely, before leaving plenty of thicker and high on the glass lace.

Lemon, ginger and citrus on the nose.

More of the same on the tongue and around the mouth. Hops are kinda dull tasting and mostly just bittering. Not getting much floral or citric notes. All in all a decent if not awe inspiring AIPA. Worth a try but dont expect fireworks

8/24....pours cloudy hazy bronze with a layer of white foam that rings and sticks. Strong evergreen pine nose, resin notes. Taste is a light/bright with an underneath bitter line. This bitter holds on following completion.

Nice and hoppy with pine and citrus and a malt balance.

Clear gold with a sticky white head that hangs around until I'm done. Piney whiff out of the bottle but the lupulins settle down once they're in the glass. Camomile ginger aroma. A little bit of pine sap and grapefruit flavor but not nearly enough. Timid, lingering bitter.

Just not hoppy enough for an American IPA. It did help me crush my mom in Scrabble though.

A- Poured from the 12oz bottle to a large-bulbed tulip with a hazy, golden body with some light orange hues as well. Large white cap forms to several fingers high with a thick, creamy texture. The frothy pillow has good retention. Lace beings with thick webs at the top followed by more thick sheets below that.

S- Hop pungency stronger than the other two I have reviewed so far (White and Black Rye IPAs). Tropical fruits come to mind immediately with herbal, floral and citrus qualities from the hops as well. Clean yeast and minimal malts.

T- Hops follow from the aroma with juicy tropical fruit really opening up. Mango and tangerine come to mind leading the way for other hop notes like lemon zest, spicy herbs and floral hints. Resiny bitterness coats the palate. Slightly dank feel. Minimal yeast and malt presences.

MF- Crisp, light end body overall with moderately high carbonation. The texture is fairly creamy and somewhat foamy. Moderate bitterness lingers on the taste buds.

Packs a decent bit more bitterness and comes through with a deeper tropical fruit feel than the others in the mixed pack. Solid, clean IPA that I would certainly have again but then again there is Limbo!

On-tap 6/18/2014 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a bright gold color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains piney hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a nice burst of floral hops bitterness. Then some strong citrus and caramel sweetness comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, not too filling, decent kick, very good representation of style, this is a very nice IPA to pound down for a long time.

12oz bottle bought as part of the current Long Trail Farmhouse Ales mixed 12-pack from Yankee Spirits, Sturbridge, MA. Bottled on 10/6/14.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" off-white head over the slightly cloudy golden amber brew. Frothy head holds on nicely, with ample lacing. Aroma is green and spicy hops.

Taste is is sweet to start, strong pine and citrus in the middle, and complementary bitterness closes us out. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is good. American describes this one well.
