A - A swirling active pour yields slightly more than a fingers worth of crisp khaki colored frothy goodness that turns more lush and smooth as it settles a bit... Decent retention gives way to a full thick layer of creamy lacing... The color is a peachy copper... A good bit of micro bubbled carbonation that starts at a moderate pace towards the bottom of the glass before picking up a head of steam by the time it reaches the top of the glass... A tad bit of lacing clings to the sides of the glass...
S - A very vibrant nose the exudes hops even without bring ones nose near the edge of the glass... Loaded with f ruity goodness... Peaches... Melon... Mango... Kiwi... Some light orange notes... A very subtle and light carmel malt base lingers way beneath the surface... Really exquisite...
T - Starts with a touch of ripe tropical fruit goodness... There is a light toasted malt base highlighted by notes of caramel... The hop intensity rises towards the finish and lingers without ever overpowering... It takes on a slightly pungent character that provide nice depth to this offering... There is a lot of good stuff going on in terms of the palate...
M - Starts lush... Medium bodied... Velvety and smooth... Limited carbonation with very little bite to it... Even and consistent... Goes down easily sip after sip (after sip)...
D - In terms of the value proposition, this one if off the charts... Possibly the best American IPA in terms of bang for your buck... Also, while it's not worth any points in this rating, I have to note that I absolutely love the everything about the artwork... Possibly one of my favorite labels in all of beerdom...

Does everyone make great IPAs these days or what? I've had a lot of different Long Trail and always thought they were middle of the road all the way around, but this is a knockout. Overpowering aroma of pine needles, grass and grapefruit -- you can smell it before the beer gets to your nose. Hazy golden color, lots of lace. Taste is puckering, sweet, juicy. 7.6% seems hard to believe. Top flight IPA.
