12oz bottle poured gently into an ipa glass. Really nice beautiful off-white frothy head capped the golden-straw hued beer. The aroma is quite delightful with pine and citrus prevalent. The taste is flavorful, not too bitter and easy to drink. The mouthfeel has some bite on the palate and finishes well with only a slight aftertaste. I liked and enjoyed this Long Trail IPA. Well done!

A - Pours a murky darker orange with a small, fine cream colored head that just sits there.

S - Lots of pine, grapefruit, mango. Great nose.

T - Lots of citrus fruits and pine, a touch of heat in the finish. No bitterness.

D - Good carbonation with a medium body.

O - Super flavors and nose with out the bitter punch.

12 oz bottle, dated 5.20.2014, poured into a Three Floyds' Rastal pint glass.

The beer pours a nice amber color, hues of copper and gold with a light chill haze, not a lot of activity going on within the beer. A thick, soft, soapy white head appears, over 2 fingers high that has very nice retention and leaves an incredible swath of soapy lace behind. Big piney aroma, nice amount of fruit and citrus with an interesting herbaceous quality, not quite dank, not quite grassy, nice floral components as well with some soft sweet malty character. The flavors are nice, subtle pine, light wildflower, soft and sweet malt, definite chewiness with a plentiful burst of fruit at the back, plenty of juicy citrus, light pineapple and mango, perhaps some juicy red apple skin flavor as well, moderate bitterness that doesn't overwhelm at all with some nice balance. The mouthfeel is nice, coats fairly well, carbonation is ample but not too abrasive, definitely full bodied with a lightly dry finish that lingers well.

Verdict: A very nice IPA from Long Trail. In a state that has become known for it's world class IPAs, this definitely has a leg to stand on. It's balanced, it's flavorful, it's diverse and the bitterness is nice. There is perhaps a bit of alcohol heat that gets detectable as this warms up, but on a whole, it was quite enjoyable.
