Long Trail Harvest Ale is Long Trails Oktoberfest offering without making a lager. Long Trail says this is an auburn beer, somewhere between an amber and a darker beer.
The poor was smooth and formed a nice white head. The foam faded to a thin layer fast, but still left good lacing on the sides of the pint. The color was rich copper and quite clear. The smell was nice and malty with few noticeable hop tones; true for the style and the apparent style this beer is meant to mimic. The taste was malty and somewhat complex with a good selection of malt varieties including biscuit and possibly some Vienna malt. The hop balance was right on, not enough to make the beer bitter but enough to make this brew not too sweet. The mouthfeel was clean and somewhat creamy but not rich or heavy. Very drinkable but nothing to get excited about here.
