22 oz bottle poured into a Tallgrass tulip.
7.2% ABV, no date.
Thanks for the bottle Chris!
A - This "Strong Ale" pours a gorgeous clear rusty amber color that shines vibrantly while topped with an off white head. Curtains of lace clutch the glass as the head disappears.
S - Double Bag has an inviting, soft and smooth aroma of sweet caramel malt and dense breadiness reminiscent of a doppelbock. Subtle fruity yeast undertones introduce notes of raisin and soft peach while toasted amber malts add a faint dryness to the finish.
T - Toast surfaces quickly, drying out the sweet caramel malt nuances for a flavor that departs from what the nose offers. Fruit esters are no longer noticeable as this ale begins to show more of it's lager traits, finishing with a touch of sour dough bread and biscuit.
M - Smooth but well carbonated, Double Bag has a nice round, medium bodied feel across the palate with a malty but dry, balanced finish.
O - Long Trail's Double Bag shows no signs of being a strong ale with it's nice malty presence and deceptively smooth finish. This is a good beer that straddles the line of ale and lager with characteristics of both coming through.
