Hit the Trail is a deep amber ale with a rich and smooth flavor. Malty undertones of vanilla and caramel are kept in check by the addition of Northern Brewer hops.

Malty, lots of carbonation. Not bad

For considerations, a twelve ounce can is emptied into a clear pint glass. It's brown, not dark brown nor light brown, just brown. There's a billowing tan head aplenty and where it has receded, there is nice glass lacing. Obviously, there's abundant carbonation. The aroma is mildly malty and not much else. A bit flatter on the tongue than the head and carbonation indicated and that hurts the mouthfeel. Not that the taste is all that remarkable. It's devoid of any specific flavor and devoid of any hoppiness, which is fine for a brown ale with some maltiness. There's no reason to go looking for another of these

A pure pleasure to drink. Excellent darker malts linger on the palate with perfect crisp hopping rate. Can't go wrong with Northern brewer hops. An excellent example of a dark ale.
