Pours a hazy amber with golden hints around edges, the small white head leaves decent lace on the way down. Aroma too subduded for IPA kind of a musty smelling light citrus hops grapefruity in nature. Taste is sweet malt, starts out nice but goes down hill, hops flavor is light also kind of musty grass flavor not bad really just not enough hops. Bitterness is also on the light side along with mouthfeel. Beer is drinkable if there is nothing else to choose but this and a marco, Dogwood throw in some extra hop it would be a fine little IPA but as it stands wouldn't bother to seek this beer out again.

Just had this brew when I took a trip down to Warner Robbins, GA. I drank it out of the bottle...because that is what it came in, so I didn't really get a good look at it. I would bet this beer looks just like your typical IPA...go figure.

Very citrusy smell. Tastes of hops and fruity citrusness smack your mouth...if any of that is possible. The end lingers for a short while then fades away. Not as strong of an IPA as I like, but the citrus flavors really give this beer a nice kick. It would go well on a hot summer day believe it or not. Great beer to drink down in GA. I would buy this again easily. I have had better IPAs but this one wasn't too bad at all.

Brownish Tangerine.

Huge floral aroma, incredibly fragrant, with notes of pine, earth, peach and tropical citrus fruits. Incredible in it's nose.

The taste however, is very underwhelming. Mainly, the bitterness just isn't there, especially considering it's style. The malt character is mainly biscuit while more notes of butter develop as the beer warms. The hops are floral and quite spicy having notes of mainly grapefruit but also pine needles and whole cone hop resins.

This is dry hopped with goldings and its easy to tell. A great starter IPA to say the least.

Uniformly peachy in color, with a generous, lively, full and rocky vanilla head.
Aroma, piney/sprucey hints at first, with sweet pineapple and mango feel, and a touch of grapefruit as well, high citrus here.
Taste, fresh, fruity, still bitter on the palate, though quickly fading in that regard, rounding off into a creamy utter deliciousness. Becomes a mix of bitter to yummy that is nearly un-heard-of!
Body is medium, drifting away into light, finish is sweet, soft, tasty, soon gone.
An interesting take on the style, sweeter than many, but, still, flush with flavor, gotta give it creds for that!

Much thanks to Rejenda82 for his contribution to BiF7 and my Georgia beer appreciation!

Pours a peach color with a creamy looking head that leaves a small amount of lace as it goes down,I get some real light orange rind in the aroma but not much else for an IPA.Taste is really subdued on the hops for a IPA a real firm malt backbone and a lighter leafy minty hop presence.Somewhat lackluster but easy to drink.

Appearance: Peachy orange-brown with a nice white head and lots of lacing. Low to average carbonation and nice clarity.

Smell: Not so great for an IPA, but decent. Initially sweet malt comes to the front, especially as it warms, but an almost British hops presence pushes through eventually.

Taste: Thin and dry, with medium bitterness. Not a ton of hop flavor, and not much malt either. Very easy drinking, with a pleasant lingering green hop presence.

Pours a hazy copper color with a white foamy head. The head disappeared quickly, however there was a tremendous amount of lace on the glass. Smell is slightly herbal and citrusy. Taste is slightly sweet maly with a good amount of citrus. Some mild hop bitterness. Carbonation was fine, however I thought it was a bit thin. Overall, I would say this was a pretty good offering, and I would probably have it again.

I picked up a single of this as part of a “make your own” sixer from Riverside Beverages in Chattanooga.

Pours out a lovely vision appropriate for the style. Mango or peach juice tinted in color, and an ample head of chunky bubbles steams up 3 fingers high and hangs around. I take the last bit and swirl and pour which adds a nice haziness to the brew. Chunky crags of lace are left behind on the glass. Carbonation bubbles are small and zippy.

The smell is fantastic, apricots and citrus practically bursting at the seams. Sweet yeastiness and a fine almost, nutty malt character back it up.

I’m enjoying the taste as well. Sweet, round yeast flavor and powdery (faintly nutty) malt smoothness roll across the front of my tongue. Pine and citrus grab the reins and hold them all the way down the back of my throat. An apricot flavor is apparent here too, mainly in the aftertaste. Very drinkable, I could easily imagine drinking a six-pack of this. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation lightens it on the tongue nicely.

Hey, I’m impressed with this one after being a bit put off by Dogwood’s APA. Overall I can taste the character of the hops and not just flat bitterness. The yeast goes hand in hand in balancing the flavor in this beer, not dominating like their APA. I was pleased to even get some nicely piney hop burps half-way through. I can breathe a sigh of relief now.

Pours a hazy rich gold with a quickly dissipating head. No lace. Mad chill haze. Smell is of light floral hops and sweet pale malt.

Taste is quite hoppy up front, floral and bitter hops. hints of orange peel. Right about the time the sweet malt comes through it has a taste like rotten celery. If it wasn't for that, this would be a much better beer obviously. Medium bodied and a disappointing hops finish, not alot of aftertaste. The initial taste led you to believe there would be a nice hoppy finish. Not too drinkable for me. Rotten celery is not good.

Copper with a big foamy head.

Crisp hoppy smell with some citrus. Not as hoppy as other IPA's and some maltiness comes through as well.

Full body, very smooth with light carbonation. This is more of an IPA light. Bitterness of hops is very noticable but overall hops presence is really lacking. I would call this more of a bitter pale ale. Finishes with a dry bitterness.

I guess this is worth a try but I don't really call this an IPA.

Apricot colored hazy pale body with an extremely tall off white head that settles down to a collar of bubbles and leaves nice lace going down. Aroma is grassy cascade hops with a twangy yeastiness. Bitterness is very pronounced and up front. Unfortunately the beer is too thin and watery to back the bitterness up with some complexity. Without the solid malty backbone, and creamy/citrus flavors that set the great IPAs apart from the rest, this beer comes off as a mediocre interpretation of the style. An overall nice beer separated at birth from its numerous West Coast brethren. An IPA lite, fit for a hot summer afternoon by the pool side.

Pours a hazy golden orange amber color with a foamy white head that eventually fades into a fizzy lace. Nose is dominated by aromatic floral hops along with some piney and citrusy notes. Medium in body with a very fine carbonation. Fresh grapefruit with lots of acidic and bitter notes is the key player in the taste, yet there is enough malt to keep things somewhat balanced. A beer any hop lover (such as myself) should love. Thanks to aracauna for the sample!

The beer poured hazy and chunky deep golden. The head was white and lasted to lace the glass.

The aroma was fruity, hoppy and malty. The citrusy hop aroma is well done and very fragrant.

The flavor had plenty of grapefruit in the flavor and a slight chocolate. The malt is in the background and the flavor hops rule the day.

The finish was dry citrusy hoppiness into the aftertaste. The body was medium.

12 ounce bottle. (All Dogwood bottles I have seen have neck labels that appear to have been applied by a child.)

Note: Began to rate this one earlier at a beer tasting and the beer was horribly infected. That impression is not noted in the rating here.

Murky pale orange hue. One fingered, tight, persistent ivory white head leaves sticky, countable lace. Soft, doughy malt and light caramel is dominant in aroma, with sweet, pink grapefruit tones secondary. Mild butterscotch surfaces as the brew breathes. Very tame aromawise. In flavor, underbaked bread like sweetness and pale toffee comprise the dominant malt character. They are partially offset by underhanded hop bitterness which leaves significant residual sweetness, of a simple, cane sugar like quality. Undertone of pine needle flecked, sugared grapefruit flesh. Lightly bodied overall, but with sufficient dextrins for a passably smooth mouthfeel. Hop bitterness augments in intensity on the palate, lending a late, slightly chalky dryness. Finishes wth a fading balance of biscuit sweetness and citrus pith. A unique IPA in the fact that hop character is restrained, but not muted, and malt character is quite simple. It works well, and Breakdown IPA certainly is balanced, but don't expect assertive hopping in this brew. Fine drinkability, though. Thanks to AKSmokedPorter for the delivery!

Interesting. I thought this beer would be much more hoppy than it actually was. This was a nice orange colour with the seminal cap of white foam. The aromas were pretty malty, and very non-IPA like to me. The taste was more hoppy than the aromas let me believe, but this beer was still lacking. This would be good if it was labeled as a regular PA and not an IPA. The mouthfeel was MOR and the drinkability suffers, still very decent as a beer though, just not on par for style at all, IMO.

Hazed orange hued brown in color. Light tan head that maintained a decent layer throughout.
Aroma is a bit faint for an IPA, but there seems to be a mix of several hops coming through. Piney, floral, and fruity. Caramel malt present as well.

Taste follows. Piney hop bite with a touch of Juicy-Fruit gum. Pretty smooth for an IPA. Toasty caramel malt body. Fairly balanced, with the hops holding a slight edge.

Good mouthfeel.
Fairly tastey yet easy going for an IPA, but just didn't hit the spot for me.
Overall, a solid IPA.
Thanks to AKSmokedPorter for the bottle and six-pack carrier!

12oz. amber bottle. Best before date of "11/21/"...11/21 of what year?

Poured a cloudy dull copper in color with a big and rocky off-white head that quickly disappates to a thin film that does a less-than-stellar job of lacing the glass. Aromas are very grassy and earthen. Some malty sweetness and citrus/pine notes in the background. Flavor reminded me of a toned-down Hop Devil IPA from Victory. Sort of an iced tea flavor to this one. Good hoppy base with some grapefruit tartness evident. Balanced nicely by a malty caramel flavor. Finish is rather dry. Moderately bitter in the aftertaste. Some good oily resins on the lips. Low-medium body and good carbonation. A nicely quaffable beer. Good session beer or a "Hello...this is an example of an IPA. I hope you like it."

I raise my glass to AKSmokedPorter for this one.

Pours a hazy, deep-marmalade colored body topped by a tall head of frothy off-white foam. The retention is good and it leaves some excellent lace. Fruit, flowers, earth, tea, and a delicate pine/citrus note mingle in the nose over a base of sweet, caramelish malt. Quite nice! The body is medium and it's very fine, natural carbonation caresses the tongue but still leaves it smooth and creamy in the mouth. The flavor delivers a rich combination of caramelish malts and floral, spicy, and earthy hops. It's certainly assertive, yet not agressive; and it's bitterness is bold but very well-balanced and never overwhelms the palate. It, surprisingly, finishes fairly short and softly dry considering the breadth of the malt and hops in the flavor. A clean, very well-balanced, and exceptionally drinkable IPA!

A hint of floral hops at the front, but then they vanish, only to be replaced by a broad, flat hops bittering. Substantial malt mouthfeel with some caramel malt evident. Most akin to a traditional English IPA, but rather stern. Heavy-handed with hops, yet they lacked any particular depth of flavor.

Poured a hazy gold with pure white head...
The aroma was not too prominent but there was some hops smell...
The taste...Not as much hops as I like in an IPA...not much at all...maybe there is too much caramel malt mixed in...you can taste a little more floral hops than malt but not much...
Mouthfeel was ok...a little watery but still average...
Drinkability...slightly better than average...this is a mellow IPA where you could drink alot of...but I would rather the sweetwater IPA
