Our version of a west coast pale ale pushes the boundaries much like the Crazy Canucks of the past. We've brewed it for those who enjoy adventure and a departure from the ordinary. The result is a wildly hoppy aroma with a lingering bitterness complemented by a soft breadly malt flavour.

I picked this up, sparkling fresh, from the brewery. I cracked it in a bout of patriotism while watching the women's curling match this past winter Olympics.
Amber golden in colour; a massive off white head erupts forth from the glass taking quite some time to settle. Superb lacing trails behind the slow decent of this rocky monster, which, fueled by tasteful carbonation, only resides well into the session.
A magnificent hop blast assaults the nose full on. Spicy and honey malt characters poke up on occasion but this bouquet really is all hops. Grapefruit and piney resin reminiscent of spruce buds hint at the hops American lineage. A slight graininess is detectable reminding of that there is malt in there somewhere. The resin smell is so profound that it almost seems incense like in nature. If you like citrus and piney aromas this one is bang on.
Crisp malt character defines this taste early on. This is quickly subdued by the bitter resinous hopping one again, almost chewy in character. The malt does hold its own providing for a fairly well balanced refreshing beer. Honey gram crackers and whole wheat bread contribute to this greatly. As the beer warms hints of butterscotch diacetyl and apple jam flit by the nose. The finish is, of course, bitter, bordering on astringent, though pleasurable.
Unfortunately the body is a bit lacking, watery and not nearly as full as one would hope given the amount of hops used.
A good beer, it's definitely a step in the right direction for great lakes. Taking cues from south of the border this is bolder and more adventurous than most of their other brews.

L: Nearly opaque medium yellow amber, minimal head
S: Decent tropical fruit juice smell with notes of citrus, stonefruit, and pineapple
T: Very tame flavour with mild indisernable fruitiness, citrusy hops and cracker malts. Slightly bitter.
F: Low carbonation, thick fluffy mouth feel. Not too dry.
O: Decent but not a head turner or favourite. Not particularly refreshing.

Look: Pale hazy yellow, with a rocky 2 finger white head. Head dissipates very slowly. At 5 minutes the head is 1/2 finger strong.
Smell: Citrus, pine forest, floral notes, like springtime after a rain. Could use a bit more umph.
Taste: Sweet up front with pine. Somewhat woody and dry as it goes along, with a bitter end.
Feel: Somewhat oily. There is something going on on every region of the palate and tongue. Crisp with a bitter end.
This beer has alot going for it. It earns a solid A- and at $3 a can it might be the best beer value in Ontario.

Single can from a great Ontario brewery showing up in Alberta finally. Served in my Great Lakes Brewery Revival Glass.
Pours a hazy golden straw colour with solid 2-3 fingers off white head.
Smells of pine, grapefruit/citrus, slightly floral hops, and bready malts, biscuit.
Tastes of citrus - grapefruit, orange peel, floral hops, slightly earthy with building resinous piney bitterness.
Solid medium mouthfeel with creamy balanced carbonation - finishes with a wonderful lingering piney bitterness. Outstanding pale ale.

Appearance - Pours a cloudy straw gold with three fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - piney, earthy, hint of citrus, leafy, and floral hops, pine resin, citrus and orange peel, hint of grapefruit peel, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.

Taste - piney, earthy, hint of citrus, leafy, and floral hops upfront. The pine resin, citrus and orange peel, hint of grapefruit peel follow suit. The bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops and pine resin lingering.

Overall - A flavourful and highly sessionable APA from Great Lakes. All elements are on point. A nice tipple to sample on this long weekend.

Pours misty pale gold with a frothy head that leaves good lacing as it collapses. Aroma: pine resin, honey, bread. Flavour: hop forward some citrus comes out to complement the pine.

A really great daily beer candidate. Its light on aroma, only real complaint, but its widely available and usually fresh. Clean, hoppy balance and kind of a very upscale mainstream beer. Nothing too edgy or bboundary-pushingabout it, but its still great.
