750mL bottle from the brewery, enjoyed at a recent tasting. Cheers hopsolutely!
Poured into a short snifter. Tawny golden, bit of haziness to it, with a small head that survives as a thick ring with some wild swirls and wisps of foam.
Nose is quite sharp from the oak and tannins from the wine, although pinot isn't a huge tannin grape, so it might just be sourness from the brew. Bit of grape, funk and a bit of citrus.
The barrel aging is quite apparent here - a nice sour bitterness and oak, though it tends to dominate things a bit. The wine quality is certainly there, a sharp red wine tang.
Nice, vigorous carbonation here, medium bodied.
Tasty brew, good start to the tasting (which proved to be sours heavy). Would love to have this next to some of the other Deliverance editions to compare.

On tap at Bar Hop. The tannins are high, the wine aspect dominates, but this one grows on me (as it warms)and is less obtrusive. Nicely drinkable, a pretty good fresh barrel. Some orange hops. Edgy and not like anything. GLB keeps pushing the envelope.

On-tap at Bar Hop.
beer is cloudy copper in colour with a minimal white head.
Smell contains oak, and lots of it. Red wine and yeast as well.
Red wine and oak flavours are over the top, very strong and very heavy. Some yeast and light fruit. The barrel effect is very obvious and overpowering.
Medium bodied, moderately carbonated. Woody.
Overall, not bad, but the barrel is too strong. Much prefer the brett version.
