A 500ml bottle with A BB of April 2014. Acquired a while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label describes it as a sparkling crisp ale - the yellow jersey of cycling beers. Hopped with Goldings and First Gold.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A hazy pale-gold hue with light sediment and medium carbonation. Yields a smallish head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of light malt with hints of grain, grass/hay, a twinge of spice, fruity ale yeast and mild stewed hops. Not bad, though less floral than I had anticipated.

Tastes of light malt with a crisp, dry finish. Notes of grass/hay, subtle grain, earthy yeast, a whisper of spice and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained, leafy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with nicely-judged carbonation and good body for the style. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of harsh stewed hops, earthy yeast and faint grain.

A pleasant pale ale, though I wish the hop character was a bit more pronounced. Looks nice, while the aroma and flavour are a blend of light malt, English hops and yeast. The aroma had a mild hop fruitiness to it, though the flavour is somewhat bland. Good body. Goes down all too easily, and would certainly be refreshing on a warm day. Worth sampling if you come across it.
