500ml bottle - nice to see another English craft brewery's wares make it to good ol' Alberta!

This beer pours a clear, bright medium gilded bronze colour, with one skinny finger of loosely foamy and ashy beige head, which leaves some random island group lace around the glass as it quickly settles.

It smells of mildly bready and wheaty grain, some soft orchard fruitiness, and floral, earthy hops. The taste is more bready, somewhat biscuity grain, with a crisp wheat undertone, some further dry, musty fruit notes, and consistent floral, weedy, dusty, and sort-of bitter hops.

The carbonation is sturdy, and supportive, without any untoward intrusions, the body a fair spell on the light side of middleweight, and kind of airy, but smooth enough, I suppose. It finishes grainy and semi-sweet in an understated way, timid, even, with the floral, fruity hops trying their best to fill (or is it 'mind'?) the gap.

This may be quite traditional, I suspect, but I'm not going for it - too light (taste, not the ABV), too floral, too weak. Perhaps environment and circumstance has much to do with the awards boasted of on the label, but I'm still underwhelmed.

Pours a amber colour with a frothy head. Malty aromas with hints of caramel. Tastes of bitterness, with a hoppy flavour, with notes of caramel. Feel is of medium carbonation. Overall a nice drop, one I'd have again.
