Located in dowtown Augusta, "Mellow" has the feel of a hippie village. Many pieces of artwork and typical hippie symbols.
The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. They know their beer, but are not snobs about it.
The pizza is really good, but I doubt anyone would say it is the best pizza they have ever had.
They have about 2 dozen taps of local and craft beers. The bottle selection is good but not great.
This is a southern chain that is comparable to Flying Saucer, as they have a beer club and focus on the beer.
If you are in the area, and like craft beer this is one of the only choices in Augusta. However, don't set your expectations too high, as this is still the dirty south.

I haven't had a decent Beer in days, my exam was over and it was time to celebrate. This was the closest place from my hotel in this lovely but weirdly deserted town thad served craft Beer. Laid back pizza place decor, reminded me a bit of Pizza Port, but replace the surfer stuff with hippie stuff. A few intersting pieces of art here and there. I sat at the bar facing parts of an old WV van used to decorate the walls, not too far from the fridges and taps. About a dozen taps, some not too interesting (Stella) but it was plenty better than the rest of the area's bars. Sweetwater 420 did the job just fine. Lots of bottle selections, but nothing really caught my eye - almost nothing local - so I stuck with pints. Barmaids spent most of their time chatting with locals, however I never got caught with an empty pint, they were always around just before I was dry. Pizza was good, not the best ever but certainly above average quality and value. If you're downtown and don't have a car, this is pretty much the only place to get craft Beer within walking distance.

hit this place for dinner. Food and beer were good and well matched. About 15 taps, highlights were old chub, dead guy, sweeteater 420 and terrapin rye. Bottle selection looked good, but I didn't scope it out carefully. Pizzas were great. And what goes together better than good pizza and good beer? Service was friendly, and wsitstaff seemed knowledgable about the beer. Augusta seems to actually have a small arts community, and the shroom looks to be their hangout. Well worth a trip if you're in the area.

Went to the Mellow Mushroom for lunch today and was generally pleased with everything. They have 15 beers on tap and four other coolers with around a hundred different bottles. The tap selection wasn't bad but when you looked at the coolers it made it not that great. Most of the better beers are in bottles here. The place has a chill hippy thing going on the food here is like most pizza places pizza, subs, and calzones. The food that I got was very good all of the people that work there were very friendly. If you find yourself stuck in Augusta you should stop in and grab something to eat and drink.

The Mellow Mushroom is on Broad, but the entrance is actually off the side street (maybe 12th?). The place was cavernous with all sorts of rooms and areas. I suspect they can accomodate parties if needed.
The bar was smoke free and sat a few folks. The taps were a bit lackluster for post 6% GA. 15 total taps, 1 Guinness, 1 Amber Bock, 1 Michelob light, 1 Cider and of the remaining 11 taps, one was out and at least 4 were simply Pale Ales. Many more interesting beer selections exist in the bottle list than on draft. They list some Belgians on draft on the chalkboard but no tap handles for them was visible...maybe they have other taps???
The food was standard MM and was very good. The service was good as well and the place was fairly crowded during lunch service.
The MM is certainly a good place to stop off in Augusta and being a few block from the river doesn't hurt at all. Parking all through Augusta is FREE!

I spotted the Mellow Mushroom on broad street on my first visit to Augusta, but had already eaten at the first place we found. It is in part of the renovated downtown, not but a few blocks from an otherwise dead and boarded up downtown.
Atmosphere: As with nearly all Mellow Mushrooms the atmosphere was casual, relaxed, and well mellow. We went about 8:30 on a Friday night and there was a small crowd with a college band.
Quality: While most Mellow Mushrooms have a great draft selection, this was not that wonderful, but I may just have been bummed because they had Grant's Perfect Porter on the draft list, but just took it off and replaced it with UFO. Their bottle selection definitely helped make up for it and they did have Grant's Perfect Porter, so I was able to try it and it was worth it.
Service: Always friendly and polite. Very charming servers, most looked like college students.
Food: Great pizza, and wonderful fresh baked soft pretezels. I recommend the garlic butter basted parmesan pretezels as an app or late night snack. They are big so don't make the mistake my boss did and think they are small or like breadsticks and get the order of 6 for 2 of us with a 10" pizza each.
