Shaded peach. Very minimal head...quite lifeless. Soapy, rainbow-colored bubbles observed. Thin, tiniest of lace-flecks.

Nose is somewhat dry and limpid. Malt comes forward first, vaguely biscuity, then an unfortunate fishy thing starts happening. Faintest kiss o' hops - when I look hard for them - are somewhat cinnamon-like.

Flavor is quite grain-forward, especially in a style that usually goes the other direction. Pedestrian. Boring, through and through. A nice sweetness that peaks through is the only redemption here.

Bitterness - without any real hop flavor - makes this too ragged for BMC-beginners and too uninteresting for geeks. Mouthfeel is sort of, 'meh', and this one just isn't that drinkable.

Pours a light orange body with a white head on top.

A scent of citrus hops backed by notes of earthy wood and malts.

Pale malts with touches of grains and sweet caramel. citrusy hops are present due to it being an APA... it shows up mostly in an overtone of lemons. Medium level of bitterness and a light aftertaste.

light-medium body. medium carbonation.

A light and refreshing APA. nothing extreme here. if you are wanting something with a punch, then this isn't the droid your looking for. drinkable and just about as good a pale ale you gonna get if you visiting the Gatlinburg area.

Sampled on tap at the Brewgrass festival in Asheville, North Carolina. Consumed on 09/20/2008 and reviewed from notes taken at the time.

The pour on this one came across as very solid right from the start. Very nice light amber color, with a good amount of clarity here. Nice carbonation could be seen streaming up toward the top of the glass. A good sized head maybe an inch in height came up over the top, but then fell down to a thin veil across the top after just a few seconds.

Very light aroma, some hints of floral hops, maybe a touch of lemon in there, but as it warmed it became more malt driven. Thin bread like malt profile was readily apparent. The flavor started out with this, and although it was light in bodied, was more then adequately carbonated and this helped to offset some of the lightness. So the malts wash over your tongue with a light grainy and bread like flavor that soon abandons in favor of a light orange headed hop that quickly becomes a crisp and clean taste. Slight drying on the finish, though nothing too terribly strong. An easy session beer that I would have no issue at all with having to throw down in multiples.

Overall not a bad offering. It was not a stand out for me, though I cannot really say it was bad in anyway. Quick, clean, palate cleansing taste, this was everything a pale ale should be. Not bad for my first taste from the Smokies!

Previously reviewed on-tap at the brewery. Am reviewing the bottle for comparison reasons.
Pour is more of a golden color than I remember. Nice sticky head that doesn't last long.
Smell is of citrus fruits and a spring time garden. Very nice.
Taste starts rather mild and the hops kind of creep in. Full force hop bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Nothing exciting nor sticky like other pale ales I've had.
Overall this is my favorite of the Smokey Mtn Brews, and a fine pale ale over all.

This was my brew of choice at Smoky Mountain. I enjoyed it so much that I grabbed a growler to bring back into the (unfortunately for me) dry county that I was staying in while in North Carolina.

The appearance is a nice amber colour wit ha big sticky head on top.

The smell is oily, juicy, hoppy and sweet. A nice job overall here.

While the flavour pretty much matches the smell, it steps it up a notch in terms of hop flavour and the juiciness that comes from it, but also brings a malty earth flavour into the mix as well that isn't really present in the smell. The juicy flavour moves right through to the finish for a nice refreshing flavour. Mouthfeel is good as well here.

This was quite a tasty brew and one that I would hope would be on should I visit again. It's a shame that it's a brewer's special, or something like that, as it was far and away my favourite of the trip.

Pours a clear burned orange with a finger of white head. Laces very well. I smell a burst of hops, citrusy and rindy. Taste is a light brew but strong on bittering hops for a pale ale (which I loved)with a nice malty backbone. Great mouthfeel and carbonation and oustanding drinkability. Had 3 $3 liters of this beauty during monday night football, I slept very well that night.

A nicely done pale ale. The hopping comes out of the gate like a lion - pungent Cascade hop aroma - with a sharp initial bite of hops. Then the beer throws on the brakes and mellows considerably, the hops abandoning the initial grapefruit notes and assuming a more fruity character. Plenty of malt to carry the show. Verdict: Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale on Valium.

Appearance is dark gold and clear. This beer smell very hoppy and clean. Mouthfeel, was smooth with a hoppy bight that sits nicely on the tongue. Taste, is very clean and wow this Pale Ale is nicly balance. Overall this is a well crafted brew one we recommend and it is fridge worthy. This went well with the ruben I had at the brew pub in Knoxville.

Extremely clear light copper color with a small white head. Not a whole lot of lacing but there is some left on the glass.

Nice piney hop aroma , very light biscuit in the background but the aroma is dominated primarily with resinous, piney hops.

Taste mimics the smell with a lot of hops for a pale ale. Very resinous and maybe even slightly vegetal. I wouldn't be surprised if this beer had a lot of willamette.

Mouthfeel is nice light, very crisp carbonation even though the growler was a few days old when I got it.

Overall this is a decent pale ale and one I would drink again. Not the best I've had but not even close to the worst.

Got to Gatlinburg late on a Friday night ater hiking all day this past holiday weekend. After a few minutes in the crowded, smoky, bar at the SMB we decided against waiting for a table and took home a mixed sixer of their bottles too. At $8.50, I thought it very reasonable but after tasting the Helles, Czech pilsner, Cherokee Red, and mountain light, I wasn't as sure. Fortunately, this pale ale renewed my faith a bit.

It poured copper and headless but enemated a clean sturdy nose, laden with hops. The taste was basic but pleasant. A slightly chemical tinge and minor sweetness temper an otherwise tasty pale ale. Not too bitter but plenty of flavor. Mouthfeel is slighty thin but crisp enough. Not outstanding, but the pick of the litter as far as I was concerned.

This was part of a sampler at the Smokey Mtn brewery in Pigeon Forge.

A - A nice deep copper color with a little bit of off white head and little lacing

S - Had a good hop character up front..I think it was a Saaz hop they used..not sure

T/M - A nice malt front with a good hop bite to round out the taste. A little thin on the mouth feel but with good carbonation..

D - Overall a pretty good Pale..thought it was worth trying again next time I'm in the area
