I ranked this one based on par for the course, rural midwest, not the average liquor store.

Westside's selection is huge. Many beers that cannot be gotten anywhere else within 100 miles. The wine is also great, though I've never explored about a $10 bottle.

The prices, especially the sales, are possibly the best part. Twice a year the wine dot sale marks bottles down as far as 75% I think? There is always a beer of the week and month, and the ad is available on-line.

There is also a pretty great selection of beer, which they claim is kept in the best condition in Minnesota. They have about 25% of shelf space for BMC, then the rest for BMC crafts and legit crafts, which include a great selection of American brews and a pretty good set of imports. Most things are available cold or room temp, but there isn't a huge singles collection. Wednesday is Craft Beer day, all of it is ten percent off, there is a beer of the month which is usually a larger craft like SNPA or Sam Adams seasonal. There is also a big sale table for almost expired stuff that see's Bell's and Schell's down near 12 bucks a case.

This is probably the best place in St. Cloud. It is a pretty large and extensive store with beer pretty much taking up a third of it.

The beer is in the back left corner with lots of coolers filled with everything from Belgians to the most odd ball malt liquors and cheap lagers. There is also a nice tall warm shelf of limited Boulevards, rarer imports, limited Brau Brothers, ect... I don't think I saw Surly here although I did see it at another St. Cloud store. There is also another row of coolers along the back wall with 6 packs of regional and national craft. The last part is a 4 small aisle section of US and Euro macro 6, 12, and cases. There were also cases of craft beer on another shelf.

This place really has an impressive selection, between a 4 and 4.5. I got asked if i needed help once but didn't need it. The prices were pretty reasonable.

This is the place to stop in St. Cloud, it is right across from the shopping mall.

This is the best store that St. Cloud has to offer. The beer selection is pretty decent for a store that isn't located in the twin cities. Some of the brands they carry are Unibroue, Duvel, Chimay, Summit, Flat Earth, Schells, Full Sail, Sam Adams, Rougue, Goose Island, Breckenridge, Widmer, Flying Dog, Tyranea, Sierra Nevada, Bells, and many more.

Every time I go in the store and look at the beer I am always asked if I need help finding anything. Great customer service.

The prices are a little high on some of the things that I looked at by a few bucks. They always have a beer of the month.

If you are in St. Cloud and need some good craft beer this is the place to stop at.

If you're going to buy beer or wine in the St. Cloud area, this is the place. Located next to Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud in a strip mall, Westside Liquor doesn't really stand out, and it's hard to realize just how big it is. Their liquor selection is more than adequate and they carry a large variety of different wines. Beer? Yes, they carry that too... a number of aisles and coolers of six-packs and then a wall of coolers filled various singles... micros, imports, etc. On the level with some liquor stores in the Twin Cities. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable... I've never needed any assistance with beer, but I've had some great assistance with wine in the past. Highly recommended for the St. Cloud area.

I must agree with my good friend Fantome about this one. This is a remarkable store, tucked away in a somewhat upscale retail development in Waite Park, the "tony suburb" of Saint Cloud.

When one lives in outstate MN, it's easy to feel like a red-headed stepchild compared to the metro area. Frankly, most small town munis suck eggs, and can't compare to Blue Max, the Cellars, or Surdyk's. May as well ask your town beer league team to take on the Yankees.

But lo and behold, every now and then there's an oasis in the wilderness. Westside is one.

Fantome observed that Westside has lots of imports and micros, including some stuff that you don’t see all that often in the Metro. I concur. My last trip to Surdyk's was a grave disappointment. Westside more than made up for it.

Despite the volume, the store doesn't feel crowded. Staff were helpful but not pushy.

My gripes, and they're small: the Honkers Ale they stocked in the cooler was about a month past the sell by date. Plus the Lake Superior products (unpasteurized) were stacked in a floor display, not in a cooler. Probably small potatoes, but I noticed it.
