Appearance – Light and bright yellow in color with some visible carbonation and a James Brown head.

Smell – This one smells like a Latin American Heineken. The skunk wasn’t too bad, but the corny grain was revolting.

Taste – The sweet creamed corn flavor shows up here in force. The finish tries to be dry with a bit of hops, but fails miserably.

Mouthfeel – The light carbonation feels nice in the mouth, but the beer itself is ultra thin and hardly worth the effort.

Sinkability – If I was in the 90 degree Bahama sun and had already put away a half dozen daiquiris I might be able to finish this one, but tonight it’s going in the sink.

Well here goes...my first beer from the Bahamas...in a clear bottle no less. Thanks to kmpitz2 for this gem. Pours a urine sample bright clear yellow with a drop of orange and a tiny head that dies quickly. The skunk/brickweed was noticed as soon as I began the pour. Upon closer inspection there's a sweet grain nose along with some spicy, grassy hops. Not half bad for an adjunct.

First sip is a sweet grainy body with just a smattering of hoppiness. A hint of lemon and slightly doughy. While there's nothing that really excites me about this beer...it is inoffensive and actually quite thirst quenching.

Pretty thin in the mouthfeel with a hint of creaminess to the body. More presence that most adjunct lagers in my opinion. I'm glad I had the opportunity to try this...but there's no reason to go back...too many better brews to be had.

Poured from a 12oz. can into a plastic cup.

A slightly hazy straw color with a little foam and not much head retention.
Smell is slightly bready, maybe a hint of yeast.
This tastes better to my palate than most American Lagers. A pleasant sweetness from the malt a bit of a hop bite. Nice.
Mouthfeel is typical lager.
Overall, I give it a bit of a bonus because I'm DRINKING IT IN THE BAHAMAS! It's actually the perfect beach beer. Easy drinking, smooth and tasty.

The bahamas sucks! $6 a bottle for this. I figure i'm in the bahamas, should give it a try, i was wrong. Bright yellow appearence, urinesq smell. I can no say this beer did not have a taste, it certainly did and it wasnt good. Grainy, want-to-be sweet, no hop taste at all, thick malt. This beer summs up the bahamas. The bahamas are hot, slummy, everything closed on sunday, people are dicks, drive on left side of road, and dam expensive for what it is. Hate to be off topic but this is the "beer of the bahamas" and it certainly embodies many charechteristics of the bahamas in it's craftmanship and taste. For $5 a bottle, i'll take the bud light as bad as it is over this!

Thanks to ericandersnavy for sharing this beer. This is my first beer from the Bahamas. The beer pours a very clear yellow color with a large white head. The aroma is very macro-like with lots of grain and corn. The flavor is typical macro with some sweetness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not terrible and certainly not undrinkable, but not very good either.

my sister got this and a few others on her honeymoon, and brought them back for me. bottle out of the fridge poured into a pint glass. pours a super clear straw yellow with some bubbles at first. a quick disappearing foamy white head. no lacing to speak of.

pretty skunky at first, sweet corn, light grains, thats about it.

in the taste you get some light grains, sweet corn, some citrus as well. pretty standard macro we got here.

light body, watery, thin mouthfeel, somewhat creamy, high carbonation.

very easy drinking for those hot summer days, goes down easy if you dont mind the taste. although not on the bottle, i believe its 5 %abv.

Pours transparent yellow with white head. Aroma is grainy with a little bit of hop aroma. Can't taste much malt, but the corn is definitly there. There seems to be a lot more bitterness then most macro type lagers. Mou thfeel is pretty thin as you would expect and there's a moderate amount of carbonation. I wouldn't reccomend this unless there's nothing else available.

undated but coded clear 12oz bottle poured into a Unibroue (sorry Unibroue) snifter.

A: Poured a pale golden color with less a fingers of head that was surprisingly creamy but short-lived. Some lacing left on glass.

S: Corn, light malt and a tiny hint of hops.

T: Light toasted grain with a heavy corn component and a bit of spicy hops. Sweet/bitter components are balanced.

M: Crisp; light-bodied with medium+ carbonation.

O: A light, corny beer that would be more enjoyable on a hot day in the Bahamas.

Fairly generic yellow straw color. Head retention's possibly a little better than other beers from sunshiny areas like this one. Pretty good amount of skunk coming out of the bottle though. Had a couple of these before though, and that seems like par for the course.

Taste is not unlike Corona, only quite a bit more bitter. They seem to have used more hops than I expected, but they seem to have all gone bad from extreme skunking.

A less clear bottle and some quality control and this might be a drinkable brew. Right now, it's not.

Beer Review #1 of my cruise on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, May 15-22, 2004.

Pale yellow in color in a clear bottle with white label.

Very standard for a pale lager, with all the boring, unoffending aspects of other similar beers, although I thought Kalik had a nice, strong bite on the tail end--perhaps from its higher-than-standard 5% abv.

The liquor store in Nassau where I bought this beer popped the cap and sent me down the street with it in a brown bag, adding to the experience. Although it was uncomplex, there can't be many better beers for a hot tropical day in the sun.

We drank quite a few of these while we were in the Exuama Islands in the Bahamas recently.

Appearance: Pale clear yellow with minimal soapy white head and little lacing, if any.

Smell: Our beers were fairly fresh, so no problem with skunkiness like others have reported. Scents are grassy and grainy, like a typical adjunct lager. Very average.

Taste: Sweet, grainy with minimal hops. Basically a watery adjunct lager and low ABV. Not horrible, but nothing too special either.

Mouthfeel: Watery and light-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.

Drinkability: When it was good and cold, it was an adequate beer for drinking several on a beach in the sun. They go down easily and you could do worse. I wouldn't seek them out again in the U.S, but I would drink them again while in the Bahamas.

Poured out pale gold beer with less than 1 finger head. Highly carbonated,,i can smell the skunk and the glass is over a foot away.Taste isnt horrible very neutral slightly grainy. I can almost taste skunk because the smell is so powerful. All the other aspects are nothing special.

I tried this at a little palm tree covered outdoor cafe in the quaint old part of Key West. It was about ten in the morning, and the guy at the cafe sort of raised an eyebrow when I asked for a beer at that hour. I kindly informed him that I was on a cruise, and that beer at ten am is perfectly normal whilst on vacation. So there.

A - Golden yellow with a small white head. The brew is perfectly clear, and there is no trace of lace.

S - Fruity with a macro lager trace of funk. I can smell some mango notes on top of the adjuncty smells.

T - Fruity, grainy, and a bit zesty. Papaya and mango are there, but just barely.

M - Moderate carbonation and a fuller-than-excpected mouthfeel add up to a decent feeling beer. The finish is off-dry and gritty.

D - Good. This isn't an outstanding brew, but I like the unique mango and papaya flavors. A half way decent session beer for the beach.

A - pale golden yellow; thin layer of soft, loose, white head; little retention

S - musty, grainy, grassy

T - grainy, grassy, straw, a bit musty, lagery

M - smooth, well carbonated, smooth, light bodied

It's easily drinkable and smooth, but it doesn't offer much flavor-wise. It's better than most in this style, but it still leaves much to be desired.
