Interesting and pretty to look at in your glass. Nice big pink-brown head, dark ruby red body. Head stays on a while, laces in rings so you can track your way down the glass.
Big cherry smell and an undertone of what reminds me of vermouth.
Somewhat harsh on the mouth. Biting carbonation. Sweetness upfront, sour/dry/puckering black cherry through the middle, bitter/dry/oaky finish. Bitter and dry as it warms up.
Had this on tap first time out, which made it a little more interesting. This was the first fruit lambic or fruit beer I'd ever tried. Interesting, fun to share, kind of a middle-of-the-pack one-dimensional fruit beer. Nice to look at though.

March 2005: 375 ml corked bottle, champagne style, bought in Prague. Label says: P.H. Wandenstock Belle-Vue Kriek Lambic. ABV is 5.1%. Brewed by Interbrew Belgium, distributed in the Czech Republic by Staropramen. Beautiful red colour, large pink foamy head. Lovely aroma of sour cherries. Flavour is of course sour cherries too, initially sweet, with a hint of hops. Not very complex, and the finish is surprisingly short.

I'm in the Belgian Beer Cafe in Perth Australia once again , and although I generally quaff Leffe Brun or Blonde .. I do enjoy a Kriek .just as I'm doing right now
I sit back and actually think in reverse , how this brew could be improved ? what's lacking ? Where does it fail ?
Truth is ... nothing could improve this joyful Cherry Beer , it lacks nothing and therefore is a 5 every step of the way

Not sure how I missed this but finally tried it out. Ruby red with pink tinting, tons of pink tinted white foam. Smell is sweet cherry, bordering on cough syrup, some wood tannins, slight funk, and wet paper. Taste is has plenty of cherries, but medicinal, sour but not in a vibrant oak aged way, rather like candy, slight funk, and there is a wet cardboard flavor lurking in th depths. Feel is syrupy, sugary, and mildly funky. Just not a great representation of the style.

1983 bottle.
Bottled opened with a pop. Pours a nice white head. Still carbonated.
Taste has a slight wet cardboard oxidation flavor, but otherwise it is mainly cherries. Earthy, a bit of dirt. Oaky. Cherry juice/extract rather than real cherries. Fun to try. Glad it didn’t suck completely.

A brilliant red color. Too sweet on the nose, but this is not the case with the taste. The sour cherries are the most prominent flavor, which is good, and the sweetness mostly fades away. Feel is nothing remarkable.
