Formerly Vanishing Vanilla Stout

An English-Style stout with high-grade pure vanilla added during brewing. This sweeter flavored beer is vanilla forward but finishes with flavors of smooth chocolate, caramel, and coffee. It is a perfect end of night dessert-like beer.

I tried this beer off the tapper at a restaurant in St. Germaine, Wisconsin whilst participating in the Eagle River Pond Hockey tournament. It poured an opaque dark with tan head that disappeared quickly and did not leave any lace. The scent had vanilla and chocolate notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roast, cocoa and vanilla presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a decent beer.

Last bottle. Stored in the Beer Fridge. I was not trying to age it. Drank at 40 to 45 degrees. Pours dark. Not too thick. Very light tan head, dissipates quickly. Noticed the vanilla fist and then, the malt notes. With the ABV of 5.00, there was no alcohol taste at all. Drank smooth, with just a bit of bitterness on the back side.

Taste: sweet, oats, malts, some bite from vanilla extract or chocolate extract. Vanilla and cocoa nose. Black/brown hue, mostly opaque, with a refined head and delicate lace. Medium body. 45 IBUs

Pours very dark in color. The smell is very coffee forward with some coffee. Taste is the similar, with less notice of the vanilla and more on the malt. Feel is very thin for a stout.

Stone Arch Vanilla Stout, 5% ABV, 42 IBU. Pours black and thin with a slight tan head. Nose is vanilla, but not picking up much on the taste other than a slight bitterness. OK mouthfeel due to a bit of carbonation burn, watery and not very smooth for an oatmeal stout. Overall very good.

This beer pours a dark brown color. The head was white, one finger, and didn't last long.
The nose I get coffee notes, and, of course, vanilla.
The taste is, well, vanilla. I get some hints of chocolate, and maybe coffee. There is some bitterness, as well.
The feel is somewhat watery.
Overall, a good beer, and I'm glad I was able to get a good supply of it.

Enjoying the Packer game at 1919 kitchen & Tap at Lambeau, let's give a pint of this a whirl. Arrived in a 1919 pint glass opaque black with a tan head. Smells of vanilla. On the taste this brew is very much vanilla and roasted malt up front transitioning to a sweet malty middle then finishing tart and dry. A tasty roasted brew.

always weird to read "with artificial flavor and color" on a beer label. why does it have to be artificial. maybe something to do with packaging law in wisconsin or something, but its unflattering, and lowers expectations immediately. you cant get the color you want with the grains in the mash? seems pretty basic to me, but whatever, this beer isnt bad at all. its reddish brown in color, a little light for a stout, especially in the right light, its more mahogany than anything else. there is a thin airy bubbly head head, tan in color, fading quickly. smells like a whole ton of vanilla, maybe an extract of some kind and maybe a little overdosed. its super intense on the flavor, which wouldnt bother me, but its also incredibly sweet, sugary, brown sugar, syrup, its way over the top, and the coffee notes and the roast in here are not robust enough to balance it out at all, so it ends up stuck to my teeth and tongue and really limiting how much of it i want to drink. they should calm that aspect down a little bit. it has awesome carbonation though, crazy for a stout, effervescent and intense, but it doesnt help to dry this out any, and as much as i like the bubbles, the mouthfeel is still odd because of all the residual sugar. this should be a little better than it is overall, but its not bad. the first beer i have had from these guys, not all the way inspiring.

edit: i liked this a little better the second time around, many years later and probably fresher, more dark grain balance to me so it wasnt quit as sugar dominated on the palate, and the vanilla has some authenticity to it. neat to have a beer like this with such a low abv too, definitely not where the style is going right now. perhaps i was slightly too harsh on this the first time around, the flavors are good, its cozy for winter, and i cannot complain. thanks to a guy who i guess is kind of like my uncle for the hookup, always good sharing beer with family!
