Brewed in Russia by InBev, 4.5% ABV.
Pours dark brown beer with two-finger bubbly beige head. Good caramel aroma and a taste is caramel too, slightly roasted. Well-balanced bitterness, light body, moderate carbonation. A water of the brew seems not very well to me. That's probably a difference between original german beer and local licensed. Anyway, it's a good one.

Yet another Oktoberfest offering, I had this one with a bratwurst and it went great. The beer was a dark amber color with a small off white head. The smell was very light and was mostly of malt. The taste was smoothe with a definantly dominate malt character and not much hop at all. No aftertaste to speak of. This is a very clean tasing beer that you could drink alot of if you wanted to, but it is not very exciting in the end.

Presentation: 12 oz green twist ... "Original Munich Formula" is stated on the label. No freshness date seen.

Appearance: Deep rich brown colour with a frothy tan lace ... looks appetizing.

Smell: Clean ... faded caramel, light creamed coffee and a hint of herbal hop.

Taste: Medium bodied with a little chewiness in the beginning. Crisp mouth feel ... dark malt characteristics kick in a little giving a light twang to the palate. Small kiss of hop help to balance the sweetness and go hand and hand with a carob roasted malt flavour. The finish gets even better with a dark bready taste that lingers with a mild residual sweetness.

Notes: Yummy! Great when paired up with a ruben on dark rye ... nice mellow dark malt character, a decent drink for sure.

Beer from a sample pack of "beers of the world"...

Dark brown chestnut color with a pale tan head of about a 1/4 of an inch. Head is fairly much gone in 25 seconds. Slight bits of milk chocolate to the aroma. Flavors are toasty and bread-like, some caramel, and leavened by considerable medium-bodied carbonation. Hops are a little difficult to pick out. While this beer seemed a little too much on the malty side for my tastes, the mouthfeel makes a decent and creamy drinkable counter argument. Pretty good brew.

Mine was under the the name "Dunkel" not dark. Served ice cold on tap, had to let it warm up a touch before i could taste anything at all. Pretty simple stuff, light caramelly, with a kinda short finish, sweetish, with minimal bitterness. Uncomplex and pretty easy to drink.

This is a very good beer for a mass-produced dark lager. This is one that I will buy again and again. Low tight off-white head that faded to a thin foamy ring that stuck around for good. Sweetish fresh malt aroma with hints of caramel/chocolate/toffee--nice! The flavor makes good on the aroma's promise. It's taste is on the sweet side with low hoppiness and prominent malty flavors that suggest caramel malt and maybe Munich malts. Nice toasty finish that lingers on the tongue--good. Mouthfeel not exceptional but not bad either. Very quaffable if you don't mind the sweetness.

Looks good - nice and dark, tastes good - some maltiness with some hops, not overpowering, but hardly any nose. This one was brewed by Löwenbräu in Toronto and is much better than when Miller had the license to brew it in Milwaukee.

Consumed 1/09/2010- from notes.

Green 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Dark chestnut brown with ruby highlights topped off with a one finger khaki colored head. Pretty good retention and decent lacing.

S- Muted caramel malt.

T- Malts are much more evident as well as a caramelish sweetness and a little something else that I cant put my finger on.

M- Medium bodied, not much carbination. A little sticky but not in a bad way.

D- One of the best Dunkel's I've had, definitely wish I'd picked up more than one.
