12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 10/28/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light orange zest, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malts and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light orange zest, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Slight earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light orange zest, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good robustness and complexity of dark/bready malts and earthy hop flavor; with a solid malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a nice malty amber ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malts and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Appearance: Bright orange with excellent carbonation and nice white lacing.

Smell: Sweet citrus and caramel. Faint bitter pine in the finish.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Bitter orange with a caramel finish. Excellent balance but a tad generic. Slick mouthfeel full of hop oil.

Overall: A decent amber.

12 oz. can (which calls this an "Oktoberfest-style ale; not really sure how that works, but I'll still drink it) poured into a shaker pint. Clean copper body with a solid finger of frothy white head. Decent retention and good lacing.

Aroma is very malt-forward. Caramel, toffee, biscuit, and doughy. Interesting berry aroma as well. This almost smells like one of those fruit flavored cereals from my youth; I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Slight spicy/earthy hoppiness, but mostly this thing is just sweet. As in extraordinarily cloyingly sweet. Caramel, biscuit, and that strange artificial berry flavor are all combining in a very concerted effort in making this downright unpleasant. Dry, burnt finish seals the deal.

Good carbonation, but a sticky, grainy mouthfeel.

Overall I am very glad this was a freebie from a distributor. One of the worst craft beers I've tried. Avoid.
