Pours from the growler with a nice deep spot on amber hue and a healthy inch of creamy light tan foam. Lacing sticks to the side of the glass as the head begins to fall. Aromas of somewhat toasty caramel malts and a mellow herbal hop tone as well. There's an earthy spiciness here along with a light buttered bread and maybe even a slight fruitiness.

First sip brings a light toasted caramel malt. Nice and crisp with a mellow spiciness that leads into a bit of a buttery flavor. It flows down with some herbal, earthy hops. Finishes easy. This one was brewed to honor Hank Aaron and is being served at Mallard's games as well.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a decent creaminess. Goes down easily, nice and refreshing. Right on for the style...it doesn't come off too light. Overall, a pretty standard amber. I could do without the diacetyl tone that comes through. I'd personally pick something else on the Dane menu next time myself, but it's still worth trying as I always like a new beer at the Dane.

Appearance: Thick burnt toffee color, with medium visibility. 1/3 inch head subsides to broken suds cover and a little lacing. Low viscosity.

Aroma: Smells like bread straight out of the oven - sweet, yeasty, and interesting if a little one dimensional. A little corn in the finish.

Taste: Light caramels and hints of coffee and raisins - light biscuity finish, with a sometimes dry finish. Some grassy and slightly sour developments, with some corn and metallic hops. A few smoky developments. Almost a little confused in the directions it pulls. Mild, and a little flat.

Mouthfeel: Light, with low carbonation. A little thin in places, but refreshing nonetheless.

Drinkability: Ok, but I won't be ordering this again. Odd that they named this after baseball's best home run hitter - this tastes more like a fly out to shallow center field.
