My first scotch ale and it made me feel pretty good on an empty stomach. Pours a very dark amber, almost black, with hardly any head. Aroma is a little malty, floral, and a hint of alcohol. A good sized sip reveals the caramel malt, some nicely hidden alcohol, and....water. The Great Dane makes some great beers, but they make everything too thin.

Served in an imperial pint at Great Dane, 5/14/2014.

A- Dark copper-brown body, one finger white head, good retention, rings of lacing

S- Caramel, sweet toffee, roasted malts. Simple and subtle.

F- Sweet toffee in the front and back, roast malt in the middle. A slight, subtle earthy bitterness at the end. Very nice profile.

M- Smooth, sufficiently bodied, rich yet very drinkable. No heat, not much bitterness- just a rich, sweet drinking experience.

O- A solid, uncomplicated scotch ale that isn't overdone in any way. Certainly not a bad beer and great for drinking in the pub with some friends over a burger and fries.

Stone of Scone Scotch Ale pours a dark brown color with a small lacing head, similar to a root beer. There is a sweet and boozy aroma, with sharp malt aromas. The taste has a sharp malty flavor with a boozy and scotch aftertaste. Full body, nice flavors and very drinkable. Overall a very nice Scotch Ale.
