Emerald Isle Stout pours a black color with a large tan and creamy nitro head. There is a toasted and roasted malty aroma. The taste is creamy and has nice roasted notes. Great full body, full body. Overall a fantastic Irish Dry Stout, full flavors, and excellent body.

From 11/03/12 notes. On tap at the downtown location.

a - Pours a dark brown, almost black color, with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells a lot like guinness. Smells of roasted malts, coffee, cream, vanilla, light dark bitter chocolate. Very nice nose; I like it a lot.

t - Tastes of roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, coffee, cream, vanilla, burnt and toasted malts. Again, very guinness-like.

m - Light, watery body and low carbonation. Really the only downside of this beer. It is way too thin for a stout.

o - Overall a really nice export stout that reminds me a lot of guinness, which I consider a good thing. The nose and taste are great, and the only negative thing I can say about it at all is that the body is a bit thin and watery. Worth checking out and a thicker body would make this one great IMO.

A dry stout yet not too drying, enjoyed on tap at the downtown brewpub. 4.35% abv. Looks great, dark and creamy. But the coffee gound tastes made it only so-so drinkable as not compelex. Could be better on tap. Now just another stout.Aroma is mild, would love more roasting.

Served in a nonic pint glass at the Madison brewpub.

Another entry in my pre-interview extravaganza. It pours an opaque matte black topped by a finger of ecru froth. The nose comprises light coffee, light roasted malts, mixed nuts, and some oak. The taste is basically the same mixture, with some greens tossed in for good measure and the nuts toppling the government, executing the sitting king, and reigning with an iron fist for years to come. The body is a light medium, with a very light carbonation and an almost nitro-tap-smooth feel. Overall, a nice Irish stout, though a bit on the nutty side for its own good.

Brought back from the brewery by PurpleCloud - thanks dude!

A: nice deep black color, almost no head
S: very nice nose, definite roasted-earthy malt, almost cracked black patent malt quality
T: this is a decent beer but seemed a bit watery and lifeless all-in-all, not bad but just really lacked character
M: watery and bland
D: OK but not much in body or taste

Serving type: growler
