Pours out a dark brown color, almost black, letting a little light pass through. A nice 2cm head, tan-colored, sits on top, though its not incredibly dense. There's a little lacing left on the glass, not a whole lot, and the head eventually collapses to a ring that waits around until the end. The smell is sweet chocolate, with a hint of caramelly - like cola, smells. There's a nice kick of herbal, earthy hops, and a tiny whiff of roasted malts - like coffee. Really nice with the flavor. Starts off upfront with some bittersweet chocolate. Then there's a nice pass of malty sweetness, bready, sweet baked goods - like cake, brownies or something, and the sweetness is offset with some earthy, noble hop flavors. You also get a tiny hint of tobacco, with a taste of coffee and cola in various stages of the drink. I really like it. This beer is full-bodied and sweet, but not cloyingly so. Nice carbonation on it - kind of low-medium, provides a prickle, but not quite a sting. The drink was good, 6.8 gets to you kind of slowly, but I really enjoyed drinking it. I would definitely have another, but probably no more. All of the flavors in this really make me sit and think, but everything about this makes me keep wanting a bit more. A nice beer worth trying if you can get it.
