The CLO has probably the best selection of beer in the Springs. With all the major West Coast breweries covered, they have also pretty much all the CO ones too. Their bomber selection is great. I think I picked up 8 today. Mostly they are from CO breweries, but Stone and Rouge are there. They also have a good import selection, but I like to buy American when I can.

The staff is helpful when asked. And often I've been asked if they can help me find anything. But it still is a "box store" so it isn't as helpful as the normal neighborhood beer store.

Colorado Liquor Outlet is an okay place for finding beer. It's a big box operation with a decent selection, but there are other places around town that offer similar or better selections.

The staff always seems to greet you when you walk in, and it seems at least one person checks with you to see if you need any help in finding a beer.

There is one disturbing down-side to this otherwise fair establishment. Apparently, they upped the price of a very popular limited release pumpkin ale brewed by Bristol Brewing for Venetucci farms. According to the CS Independent, the the owner, Wayne Harris, is quoted as saying "Capitalism is a wonderful thing." (Indy Blog dated November 28, 2011) when verifying that he was charging $25 for a $6 bottle of beer!

Ok, no one is made to pay these price-gouging rates, but this smacks of grave disrespect for your customer base. Based on this, I'll probably make it a point to no longer do any business with them since, as stated above, one can find the same product lines with ease elsewhere in Colorado Springs.

Well, hello CLO!!!! I thought I was in heaven when I stepped foot in this giant place. They have 66 cooler doors in this place and about 35 of 'em just for micro-brews. They have a very knowledgable, friendly, and helpful staff. Not all of them drink beer, so you gotta kinda be choosy in who you talk to about beer. On the other hand, if they don't drink beer or much beer, they have no problem getting somebody else for you who has a better beer education. I guarantee somebody can recommend some awesome stuff for you. One guy recommended the "Old Rasputin" by North Coast to me. Holy cow, that was friekin awesome!!!! I will definately have much confidence next time I go there not knowing what I want. Thank you Colorado's Liquor Outlet...you do this state proud.

I am a member of this store, (free to join) and have shopped for beer here a number of times. Compared to your average liquor store, Colorado's Liquor Outlet has a decent selection of bombers, singles, and sixpacks. I have only bought bombers here, and it has been hit or miss. Last year I found that many of the bombers were past their fresh dates, however upon returning in 2010 I have found this store to be a changed place for beer. The selection has been greatly expanded for singles (at least two more full coolers) with a handful brews that I have never seen in CO Springs before, which is awesome. I used to say that Coaltrain liquor was the only real beer store in the Springs, but this place has become another. I now recommend stopping in if you have the chance.

For the most part, the beers i've purchased here have been fresh. However, they definitely need to pay better attention to skunked/oxidized brews they keep on their shelves. I picked up a 6 of Titan IPA (Great Divide Brewery) and actually got really sick off of it (to the point of hallucinating). Also, I picked up a $17.99 bottle of La Folie, only to find out that it had oxidized into pure vinegar. The staff is usually friendly, however when I tried to take back the bottle of La Folie, the manager gave me a bunch of shit about how the bottle needs to be more than half full to return. I called the owner, Wayne, and he was reasonable enough to refund the vinegar. The best part of Liquor Outlet is the selection. I can always count on finding a new interesting import or American craft brew to try, however the bombers are overpriced.

Wow! Expected more from this place based on the ratings below. A local BEVMO kicks this place in the teeth BAD! This place had a nice selection of sixers! Mostly from CA, CO, and west coast. The bomber selection was NOT that extensive. They had about 15 bombers to choose from that were American micro class. They did have Chicken Killer and Old Guradian Bwine, SKA and Great Divide Imperial IPA, some other Stone brews and local bombers from Bristol. The price was OUT OF CONTROL!!! The bombers were $7 each. I paid $21 for 3 bombers. Outargeous. This place is a rip off and over rated in my book. CO Springs needs a BEVMO.

Stayed at the Best Western Academy nearby and couldn't be arsed to get a ride to Springs as it seemed expensive in a cab.

Walked in here and I was reasonably impressed with the selection. Most beers in 6 packs which is not great if you want to try different beers and have to walk back to the hotel.

I got 4 bottles to take back

Rockies (Boulder) Sweaty Betty
Ska Decadent 10%
Avery - The Reverend 10%
Santa Fe - Checken Killer 10%

I can assure you I slept well that night.

If you are from out of town / state or like me country - you need ID no matter how old you are to buy liquor.

Could've sworn I reviewed this place before, but like rod serling said, you're in the twilight zone! This is the sister store springs liqour outlet, so 80% match on most beers. Although they skew more international on beer selection for singles & 6-xers. (25 coolers of imports, crafts & singles)

Any place having la follie (sic) can't be bad right?

Staff has never known much of anything or seemed helpful there in my 20+ visits

Selection is pretty tasty, not perfect

Huge warehouse-type place. Probably the best thing about CLO is that all their beer is in coolers! I get tired of plunking down big bucks for big bottles of big beers that have been roasting under flourescent lights for who knows how long. The entire back wall of CLO is a giant cooler filled with beer!

It's a large place and pretty impersonal - if I didn't know what I wanted I don't think the staff would know enough or care enough to advise me but that's alright by me. The back cooler is probably 3/4's good beer with macro swill taking up the remaining space. They have a decent selection of imports and bomber bottles. Colorado and west coast breweries in particular are well represented. When you are confronted with a cooler of this magnitude filled with micros you begin to see why so many of them failed. Like a cheap Hannah Barbera cartoon character running across an endlessly repeating background go the Pales, Ambers, Stouts, and Wheats. It's no wonder Stone and Dogfish Head & Avery are making a name for themselves.
