Hit the Mole's Eye post McNeill's. Had a $5.00 cover for the live band that night. Selection was decent but not outstanding: Wolaver's Oatmeal, Shipyard Pumpkin, Blue Moon Belgian White, a "Mole's Eye" ale were most noteable. No BBC or McNeill's. Twelve taps total. Very few VT brews though. Did not peruse the bottle selection. Price was $4 a pint, although the Shipyard was on special for $2.50. Nothing to write home about. Flat Street had a more diverse selection. Service was good' didn't have a dry glass for long, and bar was well-staffed.

Visiyed the establishment while on a return trip from Cape cod. I was a bit leary of a restaurant in a basement, but if my wife was willing to give it a try, so was I. What a pleasant surprise. There were 13 micro brews on-tap, and on the day we visited there was a beer a beer sampler special available. The service was superb. The beers I had were all good and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The place was very clean, and our food was served promptly and attractively. If you looking for a place to eat while in the area, this is the place to go.

This seems to be the spot for folks to go before or after Mcneill's Brewery...Th Mole's Eye should thank them for a good percentage of their business. I've been in the Mole's Eye many times after a night long session at Mcneill's, I've been asked to leave, or kicked out three times. This is not something I'm proud of and decided to go in and check out their weekly open-mic night on Tuesday...not wasted this time!

Watch your step! especially after you've been at Mcneill's for a while because the steps that lead you to the entrance are steep and concrete. The entrance itself is non-descript so you feel like your walking into cellar.

Inside is a small bar with perhaps twenty seats and a few tables scattered around with two pool tables and a dart board...that's about it.

I was going in expecting to not find anything worth drinking beer wise...but I was wrong. Otter Creek brews a version og f their pale Ale specifically for the Mole's Eye...so I figured I would give that a shot, NOT BAD!! rather tasty brew the rest of their selection is pretty standard fair...so after I shared my beer with my girlfriend we got bored and left. This was easily the best Mole's Eye experience I've ever had!

After a healthy three-hour or so session at McNeill’s, I stopped by Mole’s Eye Café to check it out. It’s across the street from McNeill’s and pretty easy to find. I had originally tried going here for lunch earlier in the afternoon, but it was closed (hours posted outside indicated they were open though).

Nevertheless, this place is located below ground level. It has seating at the bar with a mini flat screen and plenty of booths along the sides. There is a big wooden dance floor in the middle. There are a couple of pool tables too. We must have showed up at a weird time, it was around 7:00 PM or so on a Saturday night and it was dead. Maybe it was the calm before the storm? They advertise live music on the weekend and it looks like the kind of place that gets crowded quickly.

The beer selection is rather uneventful to be honest. I think there are 3 or 4 tap options. Draft highlights included McNeill’s Firehouse Amber, Otter Creek and Guinness. The bottle selection was very typical and nothing worth mentioning. I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t have more McNeill’s beers available. Odd. Service was attentive and friendly.

It was a rather disappointing experience overall to be honest. Not worth going out of your way for, but worth checking out for a few beers and some fun.

Found this hole on the wall wandering the streets of Brattleboro for the first time. Killing time until McNeils opened up.
It's very near McNeil's and below grade. Pretty dark walking in there after being out in the bright sunshine, now I know why moles have such small eyes.
I think they had 4 or 5 on tap, but no crap. McNeils,Otter Creek, Magic Hat,Guinness.
The buffalo wings were hot and crispy but no kick to 'em.
Also had a very good burger, hot off the George Foreman grill (no kidding), fresh, ripe toppings and pot salad on the side (not recommended).
The Firehouse amber and Otter Creek lager were both very fresh, and tasted great alongside some friendly conversation with the bartender,Melissa (great smile and very sweet).
Funny how things work, Moles eye cafe was one of those off the beaten path surprises that turned out being the highlight of the day. I went to McNeils after and didn't even feel welcome,- sometimes just a friendly smile behind the bar can make all the difference.
