My recent trip to troy allowed me to experience the full range of opportunities at Brown's Brewing Company both in their Taproom and at Revolution Hall they're adjoining concert venue. Blue Echo and I took dinner, beers, and saw the Charlie Hunter Trio. Their concert venue is a great room, and takes full advantage of the renovated warehouse to produce a wonder feel with balcony and floor seating. It has an identical tap list to the taproom; that is 8-10 house brewed beers.

The Taproom is also renovated warehouse, and has a nice industrial feel, but it seems that it's either over crowded or vacant. We were seated upstairs and out of our waitress' normal siteline. The upstairs seemed spacious and a bit too empty, although there was a function room off to the side which might have been nice. The main floor was cluttered, and crowded. We didn't check out their deck, overlooking the Hudson and scenic Albany. Maybe that would have been inspiring. All in all, the Taproom seemed a bit sterile with areas of forced intensity, and areas of ordered neglect. It's not really a room that I'd enjoy frequenting - especially when the pump house is just across the river.

The brews were lackluster. I tried an imperial stout and a brown. While I don't have detailed tasting notes, I recall being unimpressed. Maybe that afternoon's tour of the Berkshire Brewing Company set my standards too high.

The menu was basically pub grub, with little food prepared with beer. We had the fish and chips and a burger. Neither of us was impressed with the food. In fact, it seemed a bit over priced for its mediocre quality.

Stopped here for a repeat visit. On our first visit (a Friday night) it was jam packed. We only sampled appetizers and drank at the outside bar. The apps that we had were good. This time we made a lunch trip while visiting RPI. The ambiance is good: I love using these old brick buildings for things like brewpubs. I never get tired of being in a place like this. Service was excellent. We had sandwiches for lunch. My wife had the French Dip, which she said it was one of the best she ever had. My Hickory Chicken was top notch. The beers are pretty good too. Worth a stop!

Went here for lunch. Had 3 little kids with me and the wife. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable about the beers. Tried a flight with all 7 beers they had on tap. All were good, nothing crazy just typical basic styles (eg Brown, IPA, cream, oatmeal stout..) well balanced. I'm a hophead so I was disappointed but understand that's not what they are about.

Overall, good food, service, and average beers. They also seem very locally oriented which I can appreciate.

visited later on a Friday night for some drinks. I have been here in the past for a couple of concerts and a banquet.

they've got a two story dining area, then a big bar in the back, then a deck with more tables. that night they had a band playing outside in the nice weather, with a view of the Hudson River.

The beer is good, but nothing special or creative. They probably had about 10 beers on tap, across standard styles. Bartenders were fine.
