A: Pours a cloudless amber red with a thin head that quickly dissipates.

S: The caramel really pushed through on the nose. There's evidence of some nice citrus-like aroma hops, but the malt really takes center stage.

T: Again, the caramel really pushes through big time, giving way to some honey notes and a nicely bittered finish. After all is said and done, the caramel lingers on and on.

M: This is a solid, medium-bodied ale. Carbonation is spot on.

O: In all, I would have this again. It's not my favorit red of all time, but it's well balanced and tasty for the most part. I might have rated this higher but the caramel is a little too strong for my pallet.

2012 release poured from a 22oz bottle into a wide-mouthed wine glass.

Had this beer on tap at FX McRory's before a recent baseball game. The weather was sunny, the beer was perfectly balenced and terrifyingly easy to drink... And it is so refreshing to see a return to the traditional Irish red ales. So often in the Northwest everything has to be either an "imperial" version of hopped like an IPA regardless of the fact that it's not an IPA. This beer had a perfect hint of sweetness on the nose and palate, followed by a smooth flavour and crisp finish that does not linger on the palate at all. This is a beer for the masses and one that you should try!

Appearance – Well, it says “amber” in the label description but man, is this red, red, and a little more red. It is a dark brownish red that hides the light well. The head is huge, of course, and left some beautiful lava pits as it laced my glass.

Smell – Surprise, this beer is balanced. The malts are of the refined grain variety and mix well with the floral and citrus notes.

Taste – No, it’s an amber. It looks red, and there’s a hint of grapefruity pinkish citrus flavor, but this is American grain at its best. The sweetness, unbelievably, doesn’t make me want to barf. It’s actually quite nice.

Mouthfeel – Somewhere between light and medium in the body with a nice, easy carbonation and a creamy, malty mouthfeel that pleases.

Drinkability – If you compare this to a standard grainy macro it’s a 5.

Brown to amber reddish in color with a fingernail of off white head covering the majority of the top of the beer. Light Brussels lacing. I smell amber malt and light German aroma hops. The taste is amber malt and light German bittering hops. The mouth is fairly light and smooth.

Big thanks goes out to Jerriko for sending this one to me in a past trade as an extra! Served from bottle into a New Belgium globe. Poured red-orange with a minimal off-white head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, fruit, caramel, caramel hop, and fruit hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, fruit, caramel, and caramel hop. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. Nothing on this brew really stood out to me unfortunately. However, it was quite easy to drink and rather enjoyable at the same time. Basically only carried the typical Red Ale flavors, without adding anything new and exciting to the mix. Worth trying for a fan of the style or anyone looking for an easy to drink Red Ale.

Appearance: (3.5)
- Pours a somewhat clear caramel brown color. Almost like a pitcher of sun tea ready to come in to chill. It had a quick light tan head that has fizzled to a small little ring in the pint glass, and some scattered dustings above.

Smell: (3.5)
- Caramel, and roasted husky grain. Some light molasses and bitter grassy hops ride the smooth wave into the nose. Pretty sharp and common red ale aromas. Lightly sweet, and zesty.

Taste: (3.5)
- Lightly sweet grains, and almost a wheat-like grain finish. Smooth caramel, and crunchy husks. Grassy and earthy hops play a small bittering role while a bready, and zesty malt bill play smoothly. Certainly a refreshing red.

Mouth Feel: (3.5)
- Medium bodied brew with pretty standard carbonation. Slightly drying, but not overly so as it isn't a super hoppy red. Little cloying. Not at all syrupy or sticky.

Overall: (3.0)
- Overall this is a pretty standard and common red. Nothing about it really stands out though, and sets it apart from other common reds. Though it does stick pretty well it seems to the styles guidelines. Not a bad try, but not something to really go out of the way for. Reds are not very popular among any beer drinking crowd.. and if you plan to brew, and bottle one.. it had better stand out.

Dark copper color with nice thick head.

Smells soft and full of malt. Caramel, toffee, grain husk, flowery hops, and some mild orange aromas.

Malt forward red. Caramel and husk upfront with plenty of sweetness. That's one thing I notice right off the bat, is that this beer has some body and is far from a banal amber. Floral and orange hops in the middle. Finish remains full bodied with some grainy flavors.

I love the mouthfeel on this beer. It's soft and full for an American Red. This is another great offering from Silver City, these guys have a knack for creating excellent beers. Puget Sound's best kept secret.
