look: 3.5 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.25

Appearance - Pours a somewhat hazy amber orange with an of-white finger head. Dissipates rather quickly, leaving a broken layer of surface suds. Lacing is small and spotty with little stick.

Smell - Smells of grain and bready malts, with hints of caramel and citrus.

Taste - Mostly malt character with notes of caramel and touches of grain. Hops are tame considering the style, but come through with some citrus flavor. Slight pith and stale bread in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair to lively carbonation. Goes down easy enough.

Overall - If I deciphered the code right, this was bottled on March 18th, so probably not too old to kill the hops, this is just a very average IPL that shows more malt than hop. It will be quickly forgotten.

12 oz poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a pretty, golden copper color with orange highlights and a finger and a half of white-colored head that slowly dissolved away into a not-thin and not-thick lacing of foam that completely covered the top of the beer.

Aroma: Very nice aromas of piney, citrusy hops and bready, biscuit toasted malt, as well as some caramel, black pepper, a touch of coriander and clover.

Taste: Wow, really nice beer. Lots of piney, floral, citrusy hops up front, followed immediately by some caramel-like sweetness and finished with a lot of bready, toasted malt and a touch of brown sugar-like sweetness. Tasty.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, creamy and slightly effervescent. With an ABV of 5.7%, there is no alcohol on the palate.

Overall: Wow, what a really nice beer. I wasn’t sure what to expect, never having tasted an IPL, but this is really nice. There’s a good balance between the hops and the malt. Recommended.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Amber color with a thicker white head that lingered. Lots of carbonation. Medium lacing on the glass.

Smell: Hops and citrus, maybe some pine notes in the background.

Mouthfeel/Taste: A little rought medium bodied. Taste of bitter hops with a subtle sweet citrus on the after taste.

Overall: Not bad. I would have this one again.

Straw yellow colored with fine bubbles rising up to a white tightly bubbled head that recedes quickly. Aroma of creamed corn and cotton candy, floral notes. Flavors of honey malt, peppery spiciness, some burnt rubber offering sharp bitterness. Hops are subtle, somewhat floral and spicy. Mouthfeel is a bit slick, but finishes tingly. Overall an okay beer.

12 oz bottle served ina pint glass.
Look great in the glass with excellent clarity, plenty of visible carbonation and a large, creamy bone-colored head. The head is exceptionally durable.

Aroma: fruity (citrus) APA with a solid malt base. Approaches 4.
Flavor: followas aroma. Great balance. Mildly bitter.

Feel: excellent - lively but soft. Medium body. Smooth.

O: an exceptional version of this style.

Tried in the middle of the day after mowing the lawn. Very refreshing for a lager style beer. Good smell and slight carbonation with a flat mouthfeel if thats possible. Slight nutty taste. Smells of a cross between IPA and dark lager

This beer is ok.....it doesn't stack up to the Magic Hat. The beer is lighter in body with good carbonation. The color is a hazy orangeish yellow with a creamy white head that is leaving a lace. The taste is more bitter than anything. Glad to have tried it but wouldn't go back to the well for this one.

Pours two fingers of head on a clear medium straw colored body.
The aroma is like lemon cotton candy. Interesting.
The taste has a grainy-lemon undertone of bitterness all the way through, with some good malt backup. Nicely balanced.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Nice with some good flavor.

Dream Machine brewed by the Magic Hat Brewing Company, with an ABV of 5.7 % This brew pours out a nice dark amber color with a small, white head. Dream Machine is a filtered brew you can see right though it. The appearance is decent to this brew. The smell is bitter with hops and grains. There is some richness to this brew in this smell. Not too big on the smell of this brew. Dream Machine taste is ok with a bitter after taste of hops. The taste at first is smooth but it is over powered by bitterness. The bitterness to this brew is to much for my taste. Mouthfeel is nice at first but, bitter at the end. Not a bad finish to this brew. Overall In'm giving this brew a 3 out 5.

1/19...pours copper gold, high white foam, over an inch and lasting. Pleasant hoppy nose, toffee, malty. Light citrus. Clean, crisp taste, honey, floral, quick fade before the bitter closes. Good carbonation buzz. Very good.

S- piney hops a hint of lemon, sugary sweet malt, slightly toasted

T- citrus and pine hops , crisp malty finish, fruity berry linger

M- medium body with crisp moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- drinkable ipa that stays right in the middle of the road of the style

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, hops, some malts. Taste is refreshing. Malts, some hops, a bit of citrus, smooth. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is how a pale lager should be.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle no. B204++-1257-1354. Sampled on April 2, 2014.

Attractive medium amber pour with a modest off-white head that fades to a ring. Good clarity.

The citrus hop character tends to be the first sensation on the nose but after some further investigation I pick up the basic amber caramel malt character of a lager. Mellow overall.

Medium body.

The taste is in the opposite order with a quick introduction of sweet, caramel malts and then an eruption of citrus hops to finish it off. But altogether it is entirely smooth. Fairly drinkable.

Pours a slightly hazy sunburst orange color with a frothy white head that leaves chunks of lacing.

Smells of grainy malt and grassy hops.

Tastes of the grainy malts with a moderate hop touch. Grainy malts lead off with a bit of sweetness. Grassy and lemony hops come in next with a moderate amount of bitterness. A touch of butter comes on the end. An overall light feel, but doesn't feel coherent.

Mouthfeel is light with a crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a solid pilsner, but the flavor profile feels funny.

Dream Machine from Magic Hat Brewing Company, deemed an "India Pale Lager" on the label. Poured from the bottle into a glass, this brew's very, very light tan head leaves very fast amidst the carbonation. Lacing is very decent. Medium amber body.

I smell hops AND malt. Let's see if the taste delivers what my schnoz is picking up.

Yes, sir this sure does have a pleasant mix of hop bitterness and sweet malt smoothness. I'm very impressed. Not much hop aftertaste or afterbite. Not even after dry wafting. This is quite refreshing

Moutfeel is also rather nice, no hop resin here.

3.75 overall, a favorable slot. I was very impressed on how this brew truly DOES maintain a great balance of IPA and lager tastes and sensations. I will probably buy this again.

P- thanks to keith for this brew

A- light copper gold color that is clear with half finger head and steady lacing.

S- faint pine hops smell but not much malt

F- ppine hops and sour malts

M- pine and chewy.

O- there isn't much to review with this brew. It seems bland but decent.

This one just didn't do it for me. Tasted too light with little body and didn't hold head retention well. Mouthfeel wasn't there as well.

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey Pilsner glass.

Deep chestnut and brass body color. Very crystal clear and nearly bright if it wasn't so light copper brown. Virtually no rising carbonation hardly any. Head is fluffy and scattered bleach white, with two to three fingers of cap. Some retention and pill like lacing left behind.

Nose smells a predominant caramel sweetness, but lighter. Some hints of toasted brown bread. Some hints of sticky yeast a little. A brown lager?

Palate on first sip seems a bit odd. Hop driven a little bit with some pine and fruit. Light toasty bready finish but much darker than a usual pils. Good lingering hop bitterness and some matching caramel sweetness also. Fairly balanced between toast and hop, but that really doesn't what I expect in a pilsner that's for sure.

A hoppy brown lager? Seems what it's like to me strangely, and not too bad either. To style I am not so sure or what, but it's a decent beer.

I got this single 12oz brown bottle at the Jewel//Osco store in Glendale Heights, IL as part of a build-your-own six pack for $9.99, making this single bottle $1.67. No freshness date.

The beer poured a fairly clear golden/orange color with a big 3-finger rocky white head that lasted several minutes, but for some reason left very little lacing or I would have rated it higher in looks.

Big citrus hop aroma on top of a lager beer smell. It really smelled nice.

The first sip delivers some bitter citrus hop flavors - mostly lemon, orange peel, and grapefruit. Then some sweet malts kick in for balance, but then it returns to some really bitter citrus hop flavors at the finish.

Light bodied, but crisp with above avaerage carbonation.

This was a very unique and interesting pale lager, and I liked it a lot.

Magic Hat Dream Machine IPL has a thin-to-medium off-white head, a mostly clear, copper, bubbly appearance, and some decent lacing left behind. The aroma is of hop oil and sweet grain. Taste is of floral hops, some hop resin, sweet grain, and medium-baked bread crust. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Magic Hat Dream Machine IPL finishes crisp, easy going, and refreshing.

A: The beer is clear orange amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin film of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of biscuit and cracker malts are present in the nose along with notes of earthly yeast.
T: Much like the smell, the taste is dominated by malty flavors of biscuits and crackers. There are notes of earthly yeast and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels a bit shy of being medium-bodied on the palate and is a little smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. There are bits of dryness towards the finish.
O: The "IPL" name on this beer is very deceiving as it tastes nothing like an American or English IPA – it seems to be more like an English Pale Ale. Whatever style it falls into, I found it to be both drinkable and well-crafted.
