I've been on a "red" kick lately, so I figured I'd try this one out. This pours a very deep mahogany brownish red color with a nice, thick tan head. nice medium lacing down the glass with small bubbles and good carbonation. The smell is of roasted grains, toffee, caramel and dark cherries. The taste is a little lighter than I imagined (it looks almost like a smoked porter) but was very satisfying. It tasted of peet moss, herbal, with more toffee and espresso and coffee tones. There was a nice, drying bitterness in the after taste that really made the brew crisp and not over bearing. These are a little heavy to call a "session" brew but I really like this overall.
