Poured a dark, nearly opaque amber. Thick off-white head. Light carbonation, nearly solid lacing.
The smell was chocolate malt, a little coffee and berries.
The flavor hits as a wall of malt flavor and hop bite, and fades into the taste of a cheap chocolate bar. (Not a bad chocolate bar, just a cheap one with a less than full chocolate taste.) A little hop bite at the end too. A good coffee-vanilla flavor fades in and out.
The mouthfeel is a little harsh but not off-putting. Slight carbonation bite. Light but substantial feel.
Pretty good on the drinkability scale. Full-flavor, substantial mouthfeel, but not overbearing.
